Job Description

Job PurposeThe Manager of Training, Competency & Management Systems is ultimately responsible for implementing and leading SECURE’s Training & Competency (Pathways Program) along with SECURE’s Operating Management System (OMS) to ensure the safe, consistent, high-quality, and striving for best-in-class operations. The position is a highly visible and trusted partner within SECURE, enabling all operations personnel to perform their best by enabling predictable, sustainable, safe, and repeatable performance across operations.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic direction, guidance, and support for training needs identified by all operational business units and senior leaders throughout the organization.
  • Continuous improvement, implementational and operationalize the technical Training & Competency program (Pathways) across the company to address operational gaps in alignment with SECURE’s long-term strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with leaders, operations personnel and internal Learning & Development team on delivery method of training via a mixture of online and hands on training, ensuring accessibility to all stakeholders, regardless of business unit.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the Training & Competency team in their development of operational personnel’s capabilities to run and maintain site competency, in accordance with set programs and long-term strategic goals.
  • Complete an annual review of all competency programs to determine participation and effectiveness. Establish metrics and reporting criteria to measure outcomes and drive continuous improvement in the programs.
  • Accountable for effective project management for Training & Competency initiatives.
  • Actively participate in P&ID reviews and HAZOP’s to ensure new designs comply with safe and effective operation standards.
  • Implement feedback gathering system for training modules from participants.
  • Ensure all training and assessment data is documented and maintained as required.
  • Manage the overall budgeting for Training & Competency (Pathways) program and team.
  • Create, implement, and maintain an Operations Management System (OMS) to integrate SECURE’s already identified processes and procedures in one organized system, following four key elements: Leadership & Engagement, Facility Operations, Customer Intimacy and Financial Management.
  • Identify Operations risk management principles, oversight, and mitigating controls to protect SECURE’s continuous Operations as we grow.
  • Maintain and define governance rules surrounding the framework and systems within OMS.
  • Champion operational excellence in the four key elements of the OMS: Leadership & Engagement, Financial Management, Customer Intimacy and Facility Operations.
  • Manage and organize subject matter experts from across business units to contribute to the success and maintenance of the OMS.
  • Organize significant amounts of data to enhance current processes and enable data access within the OMS for all required stakeholders.
  • Leverage long-term strategic goals and key performance indicators to promote a data driven approach to maximizing operational performance.
Qualifications/CompetenciesThe individual in this role will have:
  • 10+ years’ experience in a lead/leadership role incorporating large organizational growth and initiative development with sound management of change experience/practices.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience creating training programs and related learning materials: workbooks, facilitator guides, presentations, etc. and experience using a data management system similar or equivalent to an OMS
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or discipline.
  • Knowledge and experience in program development, instructional design, adult learning, and corporate training.
  • A customer service mindset, collaborative approach, and a high degree of responsiveness to program and system stakeholders.
  • Experience with facilitating and/or training, including exposure to long distance, web-based and virtual training would be considered an asset.
  • Exceptional listening and clarifying skills; must be able to produce tangible materials from concepts and/or verbal instruction.
  • Experience leading strategic change management initiatives.
  • Proven ability to communicate in a way that effectively influences and gains cooperation of fellow employees and leaders.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching others on best practices, processes, and/or use of technology.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to or leading continuous improvement in business processes.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage large scale and impactful projects, PMP certification would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to build, develop, and maintain relationships at various levels by providing exceptional service.
  • Ability to prioritize, work under tight deadlines and cooperatively lead a team to generate timely, accurate and efficient results.
  • Flexible and adaptive to change and competing priorities.
  • Previous experience implementing an OMS or operating an OMS would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in the oil and gas industry would be considered an asset.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
