We are transforming the way we operate to a new customer-centric model that allows us to better partner with our business units and stakeholders. It’s an exciting time for our team as our processes evolve and create opportunity for our Supply Chain team to make their mark at YYC. Like any big change, there will be growing pains, however, with our resilient and passionate Supply Chain team, we know that this change will add significant value to the way our business operates.WHAT YOU WILL DOReporting to the Materials Manager, Supply Chain, the Materials Technician is responsible for the management of physical inventory for the Calgary Airport Authority. This primarily includes receiving and proper storage of goods as well as the proper allocation of consumption.Responsibilities include:

  • Physical inventory management within all the warehouses. This includes; security, inventory organization, storage and control of all six warehouses.
  • Issuance of parts and tools across the counter to various tradesman and contracted service employees.
  • Maintaining, tracking, and inspecting tool crib inventory (nuts & bolts, screws, physical tools, etc.)
  • Working closely with the Supply Chain Coordinators to investigate and correct discrepancies with stocked inventory.
  • Transferring inventory electronically between the warehouses.
  • Making decisions for Maintenance Repair & Operations Supply (MRO)stocked inventory items that require repair.
  • Maintaining and updating WHMIS files for all warehouses as per Occupational Safety and Health regulations.
  • Monitoring and managing the Authority’s main fuel tanks using Inform software.
  • Oracle inventory maintenance and upkeep: uploading picture updates, unit of issues, transfers, cycle counts. Other updates to be discussed with the Supply Chain Coordinators
  • Responsible for shipping, packaging/crating shipments for repair, return for credit etc.
  • Generate appropriate documentation such as bill of lading, commercial invoice, R50ADF, NAFTA, AMPS, Tariff Codes.
  • Receiving all purchased equipment, materials, and supplies with the responsibility to inspect cartons, boxes and containers for damage and to efficiently check items received against items ordered.
  • Responsible for the warehouse inventory ensuring parts are accurately tagged, binned and racked in designated locations. All receiving is done in a custom computerized purchasing / inventory program.
  • Safe operation of forklifts, electric carts, pallet runners, company vehicles and other material handling equipment.
  • Participating in year-end and monthly cycle inventory count.
  • Tunnel Electrical Vehicle Operator’s Permit (TEVOP) trainer for all employees and contractors using electric carts and equipment in the utility tunnels.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in a computerized warehouse environment
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse procedures and practices including current safety and security requirements
  • Valid safety tickets/licenses/certifications;
  • Forklift
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods
  • TEVOP
  • Hazard Assessments
  • Back Injury Prevention
  • Workplace Hazardous Material Information Systems (WHMIS)
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Suite, Oracle System and other software programs in order to carry out day to day operations
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes
  • Knowledge of Customs policies and procedures for incoming and outgoing shipments, shipping terms and conditions.
  • Proven experience with WHMIS Systems, ensuring we are up to date, in compliance and ensuring all goods are warehoused properly.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation of dangerous goods rules and environmental impact.
  • Knowledgeable in the safe operation of pallet runners, electric carts, and other material handling equipment
  • Certified and licensed to operate forklift in a safe responsible manner within the warehouse and Airport property such as on the Airside, roadways, apron etc.
  • Basic knowledge of tradesman parts and tools would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent customer service skills
WHAT ELSE
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with no restriction when operating airport vehicles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Journeyperson Parts Technician Certificate is considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team.
  • Skilled at organizing and prioritizing work to meet schedules and deadlines
  • Valid AVOP – D/A permit is considered an asset
  • Ability to lift packages up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a restricted area identification card (RAIC)
  • This role is considered safety sensitive and will require a pre-employment drug and alcohol test through a third-party provider
