Your Opportunity:The Applied Behaviour Collaboration (ABC) Team has a temporary Mental Health Clinician (MHC) position available. The MHC reports to the Manager, Addiction and Mental Health (AMH), Calgary Zone, but is supporting and working with the Integrated Supportive and Facility Living (ISFL) Teams and residents. The ABC team is a short term AMH service that focuses on building staff capacity and supporting individuals primarily under 65 with complex behavioural mental health needs residing in ISFL Contracted Services. Operating within a multi-disciplinary team, the MHC will be responsible for comprehensive mental health and behavioural consultation, assessment, intervention, behavioural strategy application, and staff capacity building through on-site education and coaching. The MHC work will be accomplished through a variety of approaches, including education, skill demonstration, direct client intervention, and evaluation of the effectiveness of strategies through observation and feedback from the resident and care staff. The MHC will apply assessments, develop and implement concrete and practical mental health and behaviour strategies that can be utilized by all staff members interacting with the resident in the supported living setting. Essential to this positions skill set will be an understanding of how behaviour is manifested as a result of mental illness, addiction, developmental disability, geriatric concerns, and other internal or external behavioural factors. The MHC will work closely and collaboratively with a diverse range of frontline providers, service provider staff, allied health, and psychiatry to disseminate evidence-based and best practice knowledge in behavioural mental health.Description:As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students.
