Mobile Support Staff – Roofs for YouthThe AgencyThe Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is a charity that reduces crime and makes Calgary communities safer byhelping youth and adults make positive changes and move away from criminal behaviour. Our two residences, Raido House andWindsor Park, provide a continuum of care with services of housing and support, life skills enhancement and accessto community resources.The PositionReporting to the Team Leader, Mobile Support Staff will be knowledgeable about the issues youth face in the cycleof homelessness. This position will work alongside the Roofs for Youth teams to:o Support both Raido House and Windsor Parko Provide guidance, support, and supervision to residentso Deal with routine and crisis situationso Maintain a creative and sensitive approach in meeting the needs of the residentso Role model of healthy behaviour for residentso Complete all documentation and write case noteso Attend to cleaning and meal preparationo Provide support to residents to develop independent living skillso Attend staff meetingso Knowledge of Housing First and Harm ReductionThe Mobile Support Staff will have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle as they will be required to travelbetween the two residences; a post-secondary education in a relevant discipline; and two years’ experience workingwith the target population or a combination of both will be considered. The successful candidate will be trauma-informed, knowledgeable of the Natural Supports Practice Framework, exhibit strong boundaries, communication,and relationship-building skills, and have crisis-prevention and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of the YouthCriminal Justice System is an asset. Must be prepared to work evenings and weekends. Brain Story Certificationconsidered an asset. A current criminal record check (CPIC) and Child Intervention Check (where applicable) arerequired (within the past three months).
