LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta (CA-AB)JOB NUMBER: 65921Why you should join us:In this role, you will be accountable to develop, configure, maintain and optimize the tools used by the network team to support Suncor’s diverse range of network equipment around the globe. There is a particular focus on network monitoring, configuration management, and automation within the team.You will use your expertise to:

• Use your knowledge of Python to develop automation solutions, leveraging software APIs to tap into the capabilities of our toolset
• Work with the broader network team to come up with new ideas on how to automate network tasks, accelerate time to resolution of network issues, and streamline execution of provisioning requests
• Evaluate commercial software and libraries to determine the best solutions to meet our requirements, and then install, configure, and support these solutions, as well as support legacy platforms as required
• Provide subject matter expertise in support of project teams seeking to deploy new solutions in a low maintenance, automated manner
• Assist in the development of better processes, and process documentation, for those things which cannot be automated
• Work with vendors to remediate issues with software products used in managing Suncor’s network services
• Leverage cloud solutions (primarily Azure) to deploy and scale solutions efficiently and cost effectively
• Manage code in GitHub, develop CI/CD pipelines, document well, and working collaboratively with the rest of the Network Tools Team

We’d like to review your application if you have…Must-haves (minimum requirements):

• A post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking Technologies, or equivalent experience
• Three years of programming / scripting experience using Python to develop automation solutions, with a keen interest in growing your skill set in this area
• Network operations and/or design experience, including troubleshooting of IP networking technologies such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, as well as Cisco and Juniper networking products
• Demonstrated Linux and Windows administration experience, including installing and supporting applications on these platforms

Preference for:

• Knowledge of network monitoring systems and protocols, such as SNMP, Syslog, NetFlow, etc.
• Knowledge of technologies commonly used in developing software solutions, such as SQL, cloud platforms (PaaS), Git, Ansible, Agile, containers, etc.

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

• You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
