Your Opportunity:The Occupational Injury Advisor in the Workplace Health & Safety department is a professional position reporting to the Manager, WHS Business Partnerships. The incumbent works with a high degree of independence and in concert with the Occupational Injury team to plan and implement Occupational Safety programs and processes. The incumbent is also responsible for: Review medical received from WCB, provides managers with functional restrictions, and initiates return to work planning. The return to work plan is changed/updated as restrictions change/improve. Maintain communication with workers to facilitate safe and timely return to work. Facilitate case management process to ensure timely return to work and accommodations. Communicate claim status and updates to all internal stakeholders when they receive updated medical or RTW information. Collaborate with the manager, worker, HRBP, benefit provider(s) and union (if applicable) to ensure completion of the incident investigation and modified work planning. Monitor claim duration to ensure benefit eligibility remains intact through waiver of premium process. Attends any required meetings related to the claim and is a subject matter expert in such meetings. Supports Workplace Accommodations, working with other stakeholders for temporary or permanent accommodations. Consult with treatment providers, including WHS OHN’s, and Medical Consultants. Utilizes internal WHS resources to ensure success of a claim and RTW, these include ergonomists, hygiene, and safety. Make recommendations as to other treatment and assessment to WCB when a claim is not progressing as well as it should be. Ensures employees earnings are provided to WCB when participating in a modified RTW program.Description:An Occupational Injury Advisor oversees the life of an occupational injury or illness claim following submission of the claim to full return to work. The primary objective while managing a claim is a safe and timely return to work, as this promotes physical and psychological well-being. This position also must meet legislated requirement to submit to WCB when an AHS employee becomes ill or injured during the course of their work, as well as a Duty to Cooperate with WCB and employees on timely return to work. Occupational Injury Advisors also participate in Workplace Accommodations.
