The Canadian Red Cross is looking for an Officer, Logistics Operations. The position of Officer, Logistics Operations is responsible for supporting the implementation of the global supply chain and logistics policies and activities including but not limited to procurement, inventory management and control, warehousing, transportation and fleet. This positions also consists of developing and maintaining preparedness activities, contacts and contracts to deploy of emergency response equipment quickly and implement any required services. Participates and acts as the SCM lead on the Provincial Disaster Coordination Team;Prepares the provincial logistics volunteer team to support surge for national and international response for large catastrophic events;Working with Operations and SMC, leads to develop and implement plans to ensure emergency response readiness;Ensures flexible dual track processes that enable and support operations in both emergencies and routine timesConstitutes a roster of volunteer logistics responders for the ProvinceActs as a focal point for recruitment of Canadian Red Cross volunteers in a logistics roleProvides initial training, creates opportunities for mentoring experiences in real eventsContributes to the development and consolidation of SCM Center of ExcellenceSupports the development of national and provincial stock strategies and cost-efficient supply chain systems for EM relief items, equipment, tool kits and fleet of vehicles;Prepares the logistics volunteer/reservists team to support surge for national and international response for large catastrophic events;Fosters the development of the logistics capacity by mentoring and coaching staff, volunteers /reservists as required.We’re looking for:College/University Degree with focus on supply chain and logistics. A supply chain professional designation is an assetMinimum of 3 years of experience in supply chain and logistics in a fast-paced operational environmentDemonstrated competency in management of resourcesProficiency in English, other language abilities an asset.Expertise with the usage of different IT tools, geo-localization and ERP system are considered an assetGood knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes and best practices, health and safety regulations, customer serviceUnderstanding of financial processes and budgetingStrong and effective communication and interpersonal skillsGood understanding of the global organizationAbility to work to tight deadlines and handle multiple tasksGood judgement and decision makingWorking Conditions:The majority of the work is performed in a clean, professional office environment.Periodic travel throughout the province to field operation and disaster-affected regions may be requiredOccasional travel outside the province to field operation and disaster-affected regions may be requiredWill be required to work non-traditional hours, be on-call, and respond to emergency/disaster related requests on occasion, especially during responseMust be able to successfully complete a Canadian criminal record reference check and vulnerable sector check.The Canadian Red Cross is committed to gender equality and social inclusion in our workplace.
