Job descriptionORGANIC FOOD PRODUCTION FACILITYOPERATIONS MANAGER(Calgary Strathmore Facility, 4kms south of Lyalta)RESPONSIBILITIES;Only accepting resumes from candidates with Food Production and operations experience.Organic Food Production and Distribution company with over 15 years in the industry and with over 80 skus, listed in grocery stores across Canada is seeking to hire an Operations Manager for our new Food Production Facility in the Calgary Strathmore area just south of Lyalta on Range Road #264. This position will run full operations, including staff management, purchasing, production, packaging and shipping operations within our newly built 32,000 sq. ft. plant. Must come with extensive experience in operations of food production company and be prepared to have the capacity to oversee all aspects of operations including food safety protocols and procedures.Some of the responsibilities required for this position are as follows:Establish full operations for food production within the new plant.a. Hire, train, delegate, oversee and manage all plant staff as per below:b. Production Manager (oversees and manages all staff below)i. Packaging Staff with Lead Handii. Machine operators for grinders, blenders, roasters, automated packaging equipment, semi automated packaging equipmentiii. Food quality assurance personnel, responsible to ensure 100% food quality and packaging quality accuracy in production including overseeing the production, compilation of ingredients and blending of all recipe combination products.iv. Warehouse and Shipping personnel. Receive incoming packaging and ingredient supplies. Ensure critical inventory placement and storage within specific shelf arrangements within the warehouse. Pick and prepare all outgoing shipments to distributors and direct to store customers.c. Administrative staffi. Accountantii. Administrative assistantiv. Hire staff to oversee Internet marketing, social media, website.d. Prepare and manage monthly budgets fori. Staffing (administrative, production, warehousing, shipping)ii. Plant maintenance and utility costsiii. Equipment costsiv. Raw Materials and Packaging material costs.e. Assist CEO in preparation for application for additional support programs to support our company expansion efforts.f. Oversee the selection and purchasing of all raw materials and packaging goods and materials used in plant operations.i. Selection of the best vendors with respect to best quality and best pricing, and quickest delivery.g. Define, develop and oversee the implementation of all Food Quality Protocols used in all aspects of plant operations.h. Define, develop and implement the most efficient manner to achieve the highest levels of efficiencies with respect to highest quality of food products produced, at the most efficient levels of product cost.3.) OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING TO CEOa. Establish highest costing and efficiency operations levels as it relates to the following based on (daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis) as required:i. Production labor costs per unitii. Shipping labor costs per unit or percentage of saleiii. Packaging Costs per unitiv. Staff salaries cost as related in percentage to revenues produced.v. Gross profit marginsvi. Administrative and fixed expenses performancevii. Packaging equipment utilization efficiency levels.viii. Plant organization pertaining to set up, design for most efficient production, storage and shipping operations.ix. Prepare reports in summary listed above to report to CEO.4.) Adhere to, oversee and implement all Food Production administrative background tasks:a. Oversee all aspects of documentation, financial payments and listings as it relates to GS1.b. Adhere to all staffing, protocols, procedures, documentation compilation and organization as required by Organic Certification requirements and adherence to all compliances required by EcoCert Canada.c. Adhere, manage, oversee all staffing, protocols, procedures, documentation compilation, and support for all CFIA requirements as it pertains to Food Manufacturing Plant requirements in the production, storage and shipping of food ingredients.SKILLS REQUIRED1.) Excel Program capable: High level of skill with excel programs and formulas to assist with running existing company excel programs, designing additional excel templates, completing various operational analysis with newly created excel sheets, using excel to report Operational efficiencies and numbers to CEO on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.2.) Human Resources: Must have the capacity to hire and manage full staffing and have a sensitivity to ensure we put the best TEAM together to ensure we all are committed to the best job possible. Highly focused, detail orientated, and a commitment to reaching the highest production accuracy goals with respect to food protocols and safety through the management of your whole team is a necessity and an absolute required commitment. To manage and support staff to attain a culture of acceptance, commitment and a positive happy environment throughout the plant while attaining or exceeding quality control and production targets is the objective daily.3.) Computer savvy : Excellent understanding of various software required to operate computer such as powerpoint, word, email, database, adobe, capability to coordinate and operate ZOOM or other similar meetings, invest in other IT applications knowledge such as whatsapp, skype, and various other internet communications technologies.4.) Financial Background (negotiable): Capable of preparing FULL funding and budget presentations with respect to equipment, inventories, plant and building to support expansion and company growth. Ability to communicate effectively with funding entities such as banks, government agencies, create access and development of presentations for access to certain government programs that may be available. Having a level of knowledge as a CFO would certainly be an asset but not required.5.)
