Student Learning Services (SLS) provides writing, math, and learning support, as well as the Peer Learning Program.About the RoleThe Peer Learning Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the Peer Learning Program, in cooperation with other staff. Student Learning Services is seeking a candidate for a limited term position of a Peer Learning Coordinator part-time (24 hours, on-campus). Reporting to the Peer Learning Supervisor, the Peer Learning Coordinator is an integral member of Student Learning Services.This is a part-time role working 24 hours per week. This is a limited term contract ending March 31, 2023.Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train and manage more than 100 volunteer student Learning Peers per academic semester to work with 400+ students looking for academic support
  • Provide coaching support for Learning Peers and the students they work with
  • Schedule, organize, facilitate, and assess training for Learning Peers
  • Assess Learning Peers performance to provide both formative and summative feedback
  • Work to actively build community and award participant efforts
  • Communicate with staff and students to promote the Peer Learning Program
  • Write newsletters, Instagram posts, and communicate to large groups
  • Monitor, organize, and respond to a high volume of email daily
  • Ensure that statistics for the Peer Learning Program are accurately recorded
  • Maintain data records ensuring accuracy, and troubleshooting spreadsheets as required
  • Multi-task frequently shifting priorities and manage tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while providing ongoing service to students and staff
  • Act independently to figure out and prioritize assignments using exceptional problem-solving and organization skills
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Two to three years of experience working with adults in an academic setting – preferably post secondary
  • Experience with data collection, management and analysis
  • Highly proficient using Google Suite (especially Sheets, Forms and Slides), including using formulas, filters, and other advanced tools in spreadsheets
  • An ability to build rapport with students, staff and faculty
  • Commitment to working in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent speaking, listening and writing skills
  • Comfort with tight deadlines and varied tasks
  • Previous volunteer management experience preferred
