Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Working under the supervision of the Manager, Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacy Assistant assumes responsibility for supporting the Pharmacists and the Registered Pharmacy Technicians in the preparation of prescriptions, maintenance of drug inventory and cash control systems. The Pharmacy Assistant coordinates departmental quality assurance and other customer-focused services with supervisory staff. Additionally, he/she interacts with Internal and External Clients.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Pharmacist or the Registered Pharmacy Technician in filling prescriptions;
  • Assist and Support with the remote dispensing locations and satellite sites.
  • Assist patients picking up prescriptions;
  • Enter, scan and process prescriptions using Kroll Pharmacy software
  • Maintain accurate data in pharmacy files and computer drives;
  • Verify that customer receives correct prescription(s);
  • Maintain workflow through effective task prioritization and teamwork
  • Answer the phone and respond to inquiries from internal and external customers
  • Screen telephone calls for the Pharmacist(s);
  • Order, receive and maintain inventory of medications;
  • Prepare and process billings, claims, disbursements and related documents;
  • Review invoices or other documentation.
  • Pack and ship prescription orders according to established protocols
  • Maintain pharmacy records
  • Assist in general housekeeping and administrative duties; and
  • The Pharmacy Assistant will also be assigned other duties and tasks as required from time to time.
___ _EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: · High school diploma preferred;· Two or more years of related pharmacy experience;· Proficiency in Kroll;· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel);· Organized with the ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy;· Excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations;· Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills;· Ability to work independently and in a team environment;· Excellent time management skills;· Bilingualism, French/English is an assetMINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: 1. Working knowledge of pharmaceutical distribution industry2. Strong analytical and mathematical skills3. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing4. Effective interpersonal and leadership skills5. Effective organizational skills; attention to detail6. Ability to consistently meet deadlines7. Previous experience in cold-chain distribution an asset8. Previous experience with biological and/or cytotoxic medication and sterile preparation an asset9. Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently10. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Office ProgramsJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $35,000.00-$40,000.00 per yearBenefits:
