Accommodations are available during the hiring process, upon request.As a Plumbing Foreman with Calgary Housing Company (CHC), you will supervise a team of plumbers and work with Maintenance Administrators to provide oversight of general and preventative plumbing maintenance, emergency response processes and short and long-term planning of plumbing requirements. Primary duties include:

  • Develop and implement a plan for building and structure maintenance/rehabilitation to ensure facilities are viable and meet the long-term business needs.
  • Prioritize, direct and schedule work.
  • Plan and manage plumbing projects with internal staff and/or external vendors, identify service delivery options, manage contractors and ensure appropriate site access.
  • Troubleshoot issues, assist with completion of work.
  • Use mobile maintenance apps to manage and complete work orders.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of plumbing services and develop updated standards for CHC plumbing.
  • Ensure that due diligence is taken regarding safety within the facilities by completing proper inspection and maintenance.
Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent (eg. G.E.D) and Alberta Journeyman Plumber certification, which includes a Gasfitter “B” Ticket.
  • At least 5 years of relevant journeyman plumber experience including at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Knowledge of high rise residential plumbing systems and boiler systems, interior fire sprinkler systems, drainage and wastewater systems.
  • Able to read blueprints, knowledge of testing, replacing and maintaining cross connections.
  • The ability to coach and direct employees in a respectful manner.
  • The ability to remain calm in a high call volume environment under stressful conditions and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Success in this position requires you to be a team player with excellent communication skills, strong problem solving skills and a strong focus on customer service.
Working Conditions: Regular exposure to minor health and work related hazards such as chemicals, noxious fumes, slippery surfaces, heights, bodily fluids, pests, and hot and cold temperatures. Personal protective equipment is required.Pre-employment Requirements
