Position DescriptionArea: Health Preferences ResearchDuration: 1 year with the possibility of extensionStart Date As soon as possible (negotiable)Salary: Commensurate with experience, plus Plan C health benefitsThe Department of Community Health Sciences in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Health Preferences Research.The postdoctoral scholar will contribute to Dr. Deborah Marshall’s nationally and internationally funded program of research on stated preference health economics research. The successful applicant will engage on projects applying stated preference methods (eg., discrete choice experiments) across different content/clinical areas that are in progress, as well projects expected to emerge during the appointment period. The postdoctoral scholar will have the opportunity to advance their experimental design and analytic skills, contribute to methodological work and to develop a program of research in health economics preferences research. The team has strong networks in the health economics and health services research communities in Canada, North America and internationally. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated early career researcher to make a significant contribution to a growing field of health economics with a successful, multidisciplinary research team known for leading high-quality, impactful research in this field. The successful scholar will be strongly encouraged to apply for national/international awards.Qualifications:Applicant must hold a PhD* in health economics, economics, or a relevant discipline by the time of the position start. The PhD must have been completed within the last three yearsExtensive research expertise in health preference research is requiredStrong experience with design and analysis of stated preference research data is requiredExperience with the conduct of methodological experiments in patient preference research is preferredExperience with specialized experimental design software (eg, Ngene, SAS) and general statistical analysis packages (eg, Stata, R) is requiredDemonstrated capacity to work independently and effectively as a member of a team in a collaborative environmentExcellent written and oral communication skills
