Job Description

Your Opportunity:As a Procurement Specialist I, you will be responsible for performing purchasing functions consistent with established policies and practices while utilizing your excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with staff and external vendors. You will be responsible for the acquisition and procurement of routinely purchased supplies, equipment and services within assigned work groups. Required Qualifications:Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.Additional Required Qualifications:1-3 years of purchasing experience. Completion of a minimum 2-year post-secondary education in the field of Business or Supply Chain Management. A mandatory knowledge and skills test will be administered to selected candidates. Ability to communicate in English clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff, management, and vendors. Ability to produce a large volume of work with a high degree of accuracy. Basic understanding of contract language and legal terminology. Client-focused and able to work effectively in a team environment. Demonstrates a high standard of work ethic in a previous position with minimal errors. Effective organizational skills, ability to prioritize and strong attention to detail. Intermediate understanding of purchasing fundamentals, including Logistics, Supply Chain Management (SCM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Keyboarding skills with a minimum of 30 words per minute. Must be a self-starter, work with confidential information, demonstrate initiative and be able to action assigned tasks. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment which may include patient critical requests. Oracle or other ERP system experience. Proficiency with MS office applications. Supply Chain Management courses.Preferred Qualifications:A combination of education and experience may be considered. Healthcare and/or Public Purchasing/supply chain experience is an asset.
