Hope Mission Calgary Program ManagerJob Title : Program Manager, Hope Mission Calgary.Based at : Calgary Hope Mission Building (2014 -36 St SE, Calgary AB)Reports to : Preventative Program ManagerHours of work : Full Time, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, occasionally Saturdays) ______________________________________________________________________________________OUR VISIONHope Mission has a vision that men, women, youth and children who come to our doorswould come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.This vision can be fulfilled only if all staff is diligentin serving, strengthening and uplifting people in the name of Jesus Christ. ______________________________________________________________________________________Hope Mission is a non-denominational Christian inner-city rescue mission based in Edmonton, Alberta. Hope Mission also has branches in Calgary, Red Deer, Evansburg and Wetaskiwin.Job Summary:As the Program Manager of the Hope Mission Calgary site, you will provide leadership and support to a team of children and youth workers running programs for children and Youth. You will be responsible for the Kids in Action and Youth in Action program running out of schools and the Hub. The Program team, kitchen team, and volunteer administrator will report to you. You will equip and resource your team with the information and training needed to run supportive programs for children and youth in need. You will work with your team to coordinate and implement key annual events including Family Dinners, and other special events. You will maintain and grow a Christ centered culture through leading Bible studies, prayer meetings, and staff meetings. Your role will include communicating with many departments within Hope Mission to ensure the logistics of programs and events are coordinated and implemented. You will be a liaison within the community between schools, community agencies, donors, and volunteers.Key attributes for this position include:

  • Passion for & Commitment to working with children who face a variety of obstacles and challenges in their lives
  • Spiritual Direction: Able to lead your team in prayer, worship, Bible studies as well as to disciple program participants
  • Communication: Able to communicate and coordinate internally with other departments within Hope Mission as well as externally as a spokesperson for Hope Mission with community partners, media, and visitors to the Calgary office and programs.
  • Administration & Event Planning: Able to coordinate special events throughout the year
  • Multitasking: Able to juggle competing needs and prioritize completion of tasks and projects.
  • Networking: Able to liaise with partner schools, parents, donors, volunteer groups, local agencies, and community members
  • Evaluation & Strategic Planning: Able to support your teams to provide quality programming through effective evaluation and feedback and through strategic planning to further the breadth and depth of our work in the community
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, and training staff and volunteers in collaboration with the HR department
  • Provide ongoing support for staff and volunteers through training, debriefing, prayer, Bible studies, staff meetings, performance appraisals, and regular feedback
  • Fosters a compassionate, strength based, and Christ-centered environment for the staff, children, youth, and families we serve
  • Responsible for ongoing program development in coordination with the Preventative Programs Manager. As well as program implementation and evaluation
  • Maintains a current and accurate knowledge of support resources and agencies available to children, youth, and families in Calgary.
  • Maintains accurate documentation, reporting, and filing of waivers and critical incidents.
  • Develops a yearly program calendar in collaboration with the Preventative Programs Manager
  • Maintains and implements Hope Mission policies and procedures to ensure safety of program participants and staff and volunteers.
  • Collaborates with Hope Mission’s Maintenance team to ensure the upkeep of Hope Mission vehicles.
  • Collaborates with maintenance staff to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Coordinates program and food supply orders with the purchasing team
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with schools, community partners, donors, volunteers, and other networks
  • Ensures accurate statistics and reports are gathered for programs, events, and grants as needed
  • Completes monthly reports for the Preventative Programs Manager and Board of Directors
  • Coordinates staff scheduling, including submitting monthly timesheets, approving staff leave request forms, and booking in casual staff as needed
  • Communicates regularly with the Preventative Programs Manager
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills and experience
  • Excellent communicator
  • Experience leading teams of staff and/or volunteers
  • Experience planning and facilitating children and youth programs
  • Conflict resolution and verbal de-escalation skills
  • Knowledge of resources and supports available for children, youth, and families in Red Deer
  • Degree in Youth Work, Child & Youth Care, or related education an asset
  • At least 5 years of experience working with children and youth in an after school setting
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, run and play active sports and games with children
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Standard First Aid certification not required but an asset
Other Requirements:
  • Being a Christian Organization we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Intervention Record Check
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
  • Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures
