Job Description

Valo Networks is an experienced Telecommunication Services company providing professional services throughout western Canada. Our Telecommunications team is growing, and we are looking for competent, dedicated, and experienced professionals focused on delivering quality network services to our customers.The primary long-term focus of the Program Manager will be to work with the Leadership team to build processes and systems for monitoring project schedules, risks and monthly project financial reporting and accruals including Policies, Tools, Reporting Processes and History tracking as appropriate.In the near-term, the Program Manager will have a key role in managing the planning and execution of three key current corporate projects:1. Red Deer County (RDC) Rural Fiber Optic Network Project (currently in year 3 of a 5 Year Plan), including design phase(s) and construction of network facilities and infrastructure, notably including the four wireless towers setting out test plans and ensuring adequate documentation is created, including producing that documentation;2. RDC customer installation project for 2022, including both fiber and wireless customers.3. Oversee and plan new ventures for the company, such as the new Operating agreement in Eastern Canada.WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Working with business leaders to build and establish Project Scope and then manage through the Project Lifecycle.
  • Working at a high-level engaging both clients and vendor(s) and managing focus on project deadlines.
  • Preparing and delivering reports, recommendations, or alternative options for improving processes across the organization.
  • Understanding construction standards and ensuring build processes are adhered to during all aspects of Project Implementation.
  • Work with Business Analyst resources to elicit and define business requirements as related to Enterprise Systems, as needed.
  • When required with the integration of new systems with existing systems, lead the technical leads to document, design and implement solutions for the Integrations and Products and Services.
  • Collaborate with IT and Business staff to recommend and develop solutions for identified business functions and needs.
  • Collaborate with team members on WBS, Schedule development, Budget management and collaborate with leadership to validate.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with technical and functional staff.
  • Lead the resolution of issues and provide feedback on the work plan, risks, and issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the work plan supports key milestones and dependencies.
  • Manage presentations with Project Stakeholders.
  • May lead facilitation of major design workshops for specific projects.
  • Support development and execution of communication and training plans as required.
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Minimum of 10 years of Project, Program and Portfolio experience.
  • Must have 15+ years in a variety of roles in Telecom
  • Expert in Project, Program and Portfolio management principles and best practices.
  • Proven experience managing large teams in a multi-faceted, fast-paced environment overseeing multiple various sized Projects and Programs in parallel.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting and accounting principles, and ability to report on project spend and corporate monthly financials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group including clients, executives, managers and vendors.
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • The ability to successfully multi-task across work streams, client groups and activities.
  • The ability to elicit cooperation from team members and vendors and build positive work relationships.
  • High level thinker with the ability to “get into the weeds” when needed.
  • Must also be willing to roll up the sleeves and work on miscellaneous tasks in non-related areas to help build the company (start-up mentality).
  • A strong promoter of collaboration but not afraid to have straight to the point discussions with peers and vendors.
  • Analytical and critical thinking mindset that is results oriented.
  • Demonstrated desire for continuous learning and improvement.
  • An undergraduate Degree or Diploma in related field of study or equivalent work experience.
