Position OverviewThe Department of Equity Diversity and Inclusion invites applications for a Program Manager, Dimensions . This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 1 year (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.Reports to the Vice-Provost (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) with a dotted line relationship to the Vice-President Research Office.The Program Manager, Dimensions will be responsible for managing and leading a team of research assistants engaged in the Dimensions Project. This includes, but is not limited to, task delegation, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.The nature of work requires the handling of highly complex files and confidential EDI data, including sensitive HR (self-identification) data. The Program Manager, Dimensions liaises with and provides expert advice to staff from within the Offices of the Provost and the Vice-President (Research), as well as resources across campus, including the Senior Leadership Team, Dimensions Steering Committee, Registrars Office and Human Resources. The Dimensions pilot project at UCalgary is jointly led by the Office of the Provost and Office of the Vice-President Research, with an Executive and Steering Committee, and connected to teams across the university working collaboratively to foster transformational change in the research ecosystem and the broader university.Position DescriptionSummary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):Provides strategic leadership and contributes to the organizational development needs to support values and direction of the UniversityFull managerial discretion for direct reports, including but not limited to, recruitment, performance management, and discipline up to and including termination.Coordinate the activities of the Executive and Steering Committees and five working groups defining equitable pathways for each of the equity-deserving groupsDevelop the work plan for the pilotWork with the Senior EDI Advisor (Institutional Analysis, Research and Special Projects) and liaise with relevant units across campus to harmonize EDI data collection and use, including the Office of Institutional Analysis, Human Resources, Office of the Registrar, Research Services and others.Explains difficult or sensitive information and works to build consensusResponsible for developing and maintaining productive working relationships with other staff groupsWork closely with various functional leaders to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the larger teamSolves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutionsExercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of informationQualifications / Requirements:Post-secondary degree in human rights and equity, diversity and inclusion (or equivalent) required. Masters degree preferred;Minimum 5 years of directly related experience.Demonstrated expert knowledge of EDI, accessibility and human rights policies and provincial/federal legislation and best practices;Minimum 2 years of experience in analysis, interpretation and visualization of quantitative and qualitative EDI data, preferably in the postsecondary sector;Demonstrated proficiency in evaluation methods to measure effectiveness of EDI approaches;Demonstrated experience developing and implementing EDI plans and strategies;Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey EDI priorities verbally and in writing;Demonstrated ability to build relationships in a variety of settings across diverse demographics of stakeholders;Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with complex tasks and to provide strategic advice and counsel across faculties;Must be able to think logically and be critically objective with an ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems;Must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively and effectively with others;Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.Application Deadline: September 22, 2021We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
