The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.RoleThe Capital Projects Delivery team is looking for a detail oriented, highly motivated and independent individual to perform various Project Coordinator functions within a team setting. You will be working with a team that is committed to growing and developing the skills of all its members while delivering to our different facilities in a fast-paced environment.Working with Project Managers and Senior Project Managers-the Project Coordinator is responsible to assist in the delivery and implementation of capital projects from design development through construction, building & operational commissioning and turnover stages for assigned capital projects. The Project Coordinator is the liaison between the client/user, consultants and the construction team and must balance client/user needs within project constraints, obtaining maximum cooperation between client/user groups, support departments, external agencies, consultants and contractors.The Project Coordinator advises the users of construction activities, advises the construction team of users concerns, works in the expedition of service shut-downs and inspections, ensures the constructors are adhering to the facility guidelines, prepares cost estimates and schedules, and participates in value engineering exercises, contract administration (progress claims, financial controls, project reporting, post occupancy and warranty services).The Project Coordinator is a key member of the project team and supports the delivery of capital projects to ensure they are delivered within scope, budget, time, and quality to clients satisfaction and within safe working conditions. The Project Coordinator identifies resolution of contract deviations to ensure projects move ahead and on schedule and maintains effective communications and relationships with all clients and stakeholders.Key Project Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Establishes and maintains a network of relationships to influence decision-making affecting project outcomes with internal groups/departments.
  • Assists in project planning.
  • Participates and assists with all stages of project design, construction and operational commissioning activities (on multiple projects).
  • Ensures appropriate reporting and quality control of assigned capital projects
  • Leads and facilitates building commissioning and moves
The Project Coordinator may work on multiple projects with multiple Project Managers, including health facilities, courthouses, schools and other capital projects. The successful candidates will develop processes, systems to ensure documents are reviewed and processed quickly, and documents meet Ministry standards. These positions ensure that the assigned projects are delivered within scope, budget, time, and quality to the clients satisfaction.QualificationsRequired:
  • Technical College Diploma in a construction related field plus 6 years of related project coordination experience
  • Project experience in regards to the planning, design, construction and/or commissioning of facilities
  • Experience reading and understanding construction documents, including detailed drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of construction and design processes and owner, designer/builder relationships and responsibilities
Desired:
  • Membership in ASET (Certified Engineering Technologist) or equivalent accreditation
  • Project Management Professional designation
  • Proficiency with computer programs such as MS Office
  • On-site experience with major capital projects

Salary$2,621.67 to $3,442.53 bi weekly i.e. ( $68,425 to $89,850 per year)NotesRequirements:]Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday : 8.15 am to 4.30 pmLocations:Various Locations at Calgary and EdmontonA valid Class 5 Drivers License is required for this positionTemporary ( up to 2 year) and Permanent positions are availableHybrid Policy:There may be the opportunity to participate in an interim hybrid work schedule (per Alberta Public Service policy) of up to two days working from your home office and three days in the office.
