Your Opportunity:The Tobacco, Smoking, Vaping Enforcement (TSVE) Officer will provide operational support, will act in a supervisory role within the team environment during test shopping investigations and will report directly to the Program Manager. This frontline peace officer will conduct inspections and investigations of retail facilities and sensitive facilities where smoking is prohibited. They will respond to calls for service and providing a service response to ensure compliance to the Tobacco Smoking Vaping Reduction Act, which provides regulatory requirements for all Albertans for the use, sale and possession of tobacco, vaping and other smoking paraphernalia. This officer will also be the designated Field Training Officer for each zone environmental public health team. These peace officers will provide field training and investigation expertise for Public Health Inspectors and other TSVE Members as required. The peace officer classification will be an Alberta Peace Officer (Lvl 2) which requires knowledge that is very specific to a particular subject and conduct a range of duties that include inspection and investigation procedures to conduct enforcement under the Tobacco, Smoking Vaping Reduction Act. A key job function is the supervision and management of Youth Test Shopper contractors. The role will involve extensive travel and will require Court and witness preparation.Description:As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.
