Job Description

SummarySimply Solventless Concentrates Ltd. (SSC) is hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist – Weekend Shift to support the manufacturing of solventless cannabis extracts. This position is located close to Calgary, Alberta, 10 minutes west of Airdrie.We are a team of highly motivated and entrepreneurial professionals, and we seek to work with other energetic and entrepreneurial individuals.Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager / Quality Assurance Person (QAP), the Quality Assurance Specialist – Weekend Shift will assist the Quality Team to ensure compliance with all aspects of the Cannabis Act, Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as required by Health Canada. Quality Assurance Specialist will perform these duties while diligently following, and ensuring all workers follow all processing and facility related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and complying with all company policies and Health Canada regulatory requirements.The Quality Assurance Specialist - Weekend Shift brings to SSC a proven track record of setting and meeting ambitious goals.Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager / Quality Assurance PersonResponsibilities

  • Write, revise and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated documents related to QA, production, equipment, packaging and labelling, and storage and distribution, to ensure continuous compliance with the Cannabis Regulations, Good Production Practices, Good Documentation Practices, internal standards and customer requirements
  • Assists the QAP and QA Manager in managing the Quality Management System including accurate record keeping and filing as per organizational procedures
  • Support product and procedural development, and actively participate in performing validation protocols
  • Provide assistance and support for equipment and process optimization, validation, calibration, qualification or certification
  • Conduct quality checks and inspections during all stages of production
  • Perform daily pre-operational checks on equipment and production rooms
  • Maintain calibration records for quality control equipment
  • Perform inspection of incoming materials
  • Collect retention samples, send samples out for third party testing and maintain sample logs
  • Support completion and review production batch records on a daily basis
  • Generation and maintenance of Preventive Controls Plans (PCP) to ensure that the Operation meets regulatory and product safety requirements
  • Monitor process control points and take measures to eliminate deviations
  • Monitor and ensure facility employees are following Good Production Practices and Good Documentation Practices
  • Ensure that documentation, complaints, deviations, non-conformances, investigations, corrective and preventative actions, and change controls are performed in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of ongoing process improvements
  • Perform data trending and statistical analysis
  • Assist with various other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma in a related field – chemistry, biology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, etc.
  • Prior experience in the cannabis industry, food and beverage industry, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical or other industries where Good Production Practices (GPP) or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed is preferred
  • Interest in building a career in the cannabis industry
  • Must be able to work in the facility located 10 minutes west of Airdrie
  • Has own transportation, or a reliable carpool.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
