With our culture of commitment and professional growth opportunities, AFL will give you the opportunity to reach new heights and take your career to the next level.AFL has operations in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Asia and Australia and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujikura Ltd. of Japan.JOB SUMMARYUnder the direction of the Quality Manager the incumbent is responsible to ensure compliance and uniformity during multiple phases of a large-scale Fiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) build.The incumbent is also responsible for providing accurate and effective quality assurance, customer reporting, and operational support by assisting with the continuous development of engineering policies, procedures, and training.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTING OUTCOMES

  • Communicate with Construction/Splicing manager upon site visits
  • Visit FSA site (FDH and route) and any civil built and fill out QA checklist
  • Report back to construction and splicing manager on any findings
  • Pass or mark defect according to TELUS standard and checklist provided
  • Check that any deviations from original design are marked properly on as-built
  • Send in completed checklist at end of inspection phase and list of open/closed deficiencies
  • Propose strategies to avoid duplication of work, minimize processing times, and reduce cost
  • Adherence to and promotion of the Canadian environmental, health & safety policies
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge and Experience
  • 1-3 years’ relevant experience ideally in Telecommunication Field
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point
  • Knowledge in the following considered an asset: GPON FTTP, FTTx, other Outside Plant Design
  • Knowledge to work with AutoCAD & CAD viewers
  • Read and understand telecommunication network drawings
  • Strong computer skills with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Special consideration will be given to candidates with intermediate skills with Microsoft Access)
  • College Diploma - Electrical/Computer Engineering Technology - Major in Telecommunications and Networks

  • 80% field environment and 20% Normal office
  • Ability to work in a stressful, time sensitive, ever-changing, and high tempo environment
  • Travel may be required
