Job TitleResearch AnalystJob Description SummaryJob DescriptionJob Title: Research AnalystLocation: Calgary, ABJob Description Summary:Based in our Calgary, Alberta office, the Research Analyst is responsible for supporting the development of local research output and thought leadership by gathering and tracking local market data. Specifically, this position is tasked with updating and maintaining the accuracy of our proprietary Commercial Real Estate (CRE) database by inputting, updating, and validating key property, availability, and transactional information in real time. This would embrace validating key information via discussions with agents, landlords, developers, and third-party asset managers to ensure best-in-class data accuracy.Working in a fast-paced environment with a variety of stakeholders, the ideal candidate is able to plan, organize, prioritize, adapt, and manage processes and successfully solve problems with minimal direction. Ultimately, the successful candidate will cover local market information, working closely with brokerage professionals in a variety of CRE product types.In this an entry-level position, the successful applicant will gain a comprehensive knowledge of the Commercial Real Estate industry through updating and tracking market data. There will then be an opportunity for the Research Analyst to develop their role by learning to analyze/visualize market data and assist in writing quarterly reports.This position is not specific to a service line but may specialize by property type.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Manage & Update Research DatabasesProactively and routinely seek information from internal fee-earners, Managing Principal, and external sources to facilitate the collection of key intelligence data related to changing market conditions surrounding both inventory, availability, and occupancyLiaise regularly with other CRE professionals, including developers, landlords, appraisers, and external agents and research analysts to seek out market informationCollect and ensure the integrity of comparable data, new development information, and applicable information on city planning changes/issuesAccurately maintain & update information within the research databases within a defined frequencyApply technical and analytical skills to disseminate market data and ensure data integrityPerform regular and ongoing audits of existing data within the system on a regular and ongoing basis, via the examination of reports and information provided by other brokerages and real estate companiesContributes to the quarterly statistical processProvide designated support for thought leadership initiatives, pitch materials, publications, and deliverablesAssist Manager of Research and/or agents in the production of customized reports for business development, utilizing both internal and external databases and analytical toolsSupport local and national research initiativesWork on specialized projects that improve systems and enhance information flow and further automate existing processesMaintain and develop documented processes to support regular updates and maintenance to ensure the accuracy of the underlying databaseProvide support on an as-needed basis for ad hoc requestsCompetencies:Verbal communication/articulate/polished: strong oral and written communication skillsConnection/relationship building: maintains a positive and profession attitude and demonstrates professionalism at all timesAdaptability/change/fast pace: ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage processes in a fast-changing, high-energy environmentTeam player/collaboration: seeks to make individual contributions that benefit the broader teamResourcefulness/initiative: ability to successfully resolve problems with minimal oversight & directionWork ethic/grit: proactively gather data and confirm accuracy; tenacity to go above and beyondIntellectual curiosity: desire to invest time and energy in CRE knowledgeDatabase operation: ability to efficiently and accurately audit/update data and seeks value in repetitive tasksAttention to detail: excellent organization skills and keen eyeStrong Excel skills: ability to effectively utilize Excel to quickly audit and update large data sets.Background & Experience:Post-secondary education required; degree in Commerce, Economics, Business Administration, Urban Economics, Urban Planning, or Urban Geography is an assetProfessional acumen, demonstrated interest in CRE industryExperience in data entry/data management would be an asset.Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Cushman & Wakefield is committed to equity in employment and our goal is to have a diverse, inclusive, and barrier-free workplace.
