Job Description

We have maintained our Platinum membership status since 2008.POSITION SUMMARYThe Scheduler / Project Coordinator combined role to provide project scheduling as your main responsibility and project coordinator support for the Calgary Event Center. You will be responsible for ensuring the master schedule for the project is developed & maintained, identify, and record the impact of work performed according to the schedule, evaluate construction progress, and provide regular schedule updates. The Scheduler / Project Coordinator is responsible for providing and maintaining look-ahead schedules for multiple areas and phase work required for the day-to-day operations. Administration of the contract, as well as the subcontracts, as instructed by the Construction Manager.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIESScheduler (Primary Responsibility)

  • During preconstruction develop preliminary master schedules for proposals and tenders detailing the sequence of all work to be performed to ensure schedule is realistic and competitive.
  • Develop and maintain master schedule for each project, identify and record the impact of work performed according to the schedule. Evaluate construction progress and provide regular schedule updates.
  • Proactively identify problems or conflicts in the project schedule and assist the Construction Manager or Superintendent in effectively managing a resolution.
  • Provide and maintain look-ahead schedules for multiple areas and phases of work.
  • Incorporate resource and cost loading data into schedules as required.
  • Development and maintenance of short and long term (multi-year) project schedules including the preparation of cash flow, manpower histogram, time impact analysis and S curve. Maintain schedule forecast throughout the project life cycle by verifying schedules are properly updated and linked to the master schedule. This will include attending site visits and meetings.
  • Assist in the monitoring, reviewing and analysis of the schedule and progress report during all phases of the project, including the analysis of any schedule deviations and assist with identifying corrective actions.
  • Coordinate directly with Subtrades to review and incorporate supplier or trade Contractor schedules as well as the scheduling of inbound materials.
  • Perform trend analysis, forecasting and time impact analysis.
  • Provide information on the content, modification, or presentation of schedules.
  • Coordinate with our VDC/BIM department for 4D scheduling.
Project Coordinator:
  • Apply theoretical project management concepts to live construction projects including budgeting, estimating, scheduling, risk management, quality control, & cost control.
  • Provide administration and operational support to estimators, construction managers, site superintendents and other members of the CANA Construction team.
  • Build and maintain positive effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Utilize strong written and oral communication skills for all project correspondence & communication
  • Organize project reports, submittals, request for information, meeting minutes, issues, contract documentation, etc.
  • Demonstrate effective computer and software skills, knowledge of estimating procedures, site practices and project execution procedures
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and relational skills to assist the project team in ensuring successful project execution.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIESTo be successful in the role applicants will have:
  • Strong verbal, communication, and technical writing skills
  • Construction industry experience
  • Construction related degree/diploma and five or more years of civil/Infrastructure/construction scheduling experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
  • Must be proficient in using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
  • You have the ability to coordinate multiple schedules, solve schedule conflicts under pressure and understand the complex construction sequence
  • Be highly organized, dependable, and deadline-oriented while displaying a positive attitude in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of construction, engineering principles and practices and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of project management principles for project execution
