Job Description

JOIN OUR TEAMSyantra is seeking a highly skilled Scientist to join our dynamic and growing company. The successful individual will work in a collaborative research and development team and will design and perform research in cell biology, biomarker discovery, and target validation for diagnostic and therapeutic applications, including setting up and optimizing high-throughput screening assays. We are dedicated to developing accessible solutions for health challenges to enable earlier disease detection, targeted treatment, and improved health outcomes.POSITION SUMMARYThe Scientist will report to a Senior Scientist and work in a multi-disciplinary and diverse environment with a high level of independence. Activities include investigation of molecular mechanisms of disease, identification and validation of biomarkers and drug targets, and analysis of diverse clinical samples. The responsibilities include the development of biochemical or cellular assays for high-throughput screening and target validation. Work will involve mammalian cell culture, epigenetic disease model development, protein and nucleic acid analysis, bioinformatics, and other molecular techniques to advance target validation, modulate function, and develop new applications.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and execute experimental plans to identify/validate biomarkers and molecular targets associated with disease
  • Develop and optimize the biochemical and cellular assays for high-throughput screening, analysis and interpretation of data
  • Participate in collaborative teams to develop and expand research initiatives
  • Identify and develop new experimental approaches
  • Analyze and interpret multi-omics data
  • Develop and deliver publications, reports, and presentations
  • Train and mentor research team members
  • Foster a culture of quality and working within quality management systems
  • Participate in funding proposal and report preparation
  • Manage research projects, timelines and associated laboratory safety considerations
  • Stay current with new technologies and advances that relate to company activities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated success in design and performance of experiments, both independently and as part of a team
  • Exceptional communication skills to support scientific publications and technical presentations
  • Detailed knowledge of cell biology and epigenetics, with a focus on human disease models
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory GLP standards, including safety, cleanliness, and infection control
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory equipment uses, techniques, and maintenance
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and work responsibilities while adhering to Quality Management System requirements
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and creativity in experimental design and execution
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • PhD or Master’s degree in biomedical science, biomedical engineering or related field
  • At least one (1) year of experience beyond PhD in biotechnology or biological science research desired
  • High impact research as illustrated by publications, patents, implementation of innovations, or other related activities
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture, signal transduction, gene expression quantification, gene expression regulation, and use of bioinformatic tools
  • Prior industry experience in drug discovery and development, including target validation, lead identification and optimization is highly desired
  • Experience in GLP laboratory operations or management is an asset
