Job Description

Role Impact:To provide dispatch communication to Security Guards regarding incidents, requests for assistance, emergencies, etc., log details of radio transmission, telephone calls and verbal instructions, direct back-up support as necessary and to provide indirect supervision of security guards. Note: The successful candidate must be able to work overnight from 18:00 to 06:00 and alternate weekends.What you will deliver:

  • Take charge of radio transmissions and dispatch security guards to incidents, requests for assistance, emergencies, etc. as well as conduct regular status checks on all security staff throughout the shift. Log details of radio transmission, telephone calls and verbal instructions as well as all other detailed aspects to the daily shift summary log;
  • Direct back-up support as necessary including on-site police and attending emergency services personnel;
  • Notify management of all emergency situations and major incidents as well as provide continual updates until conclusion of situation;
  • Monitor and maintain Fire Emergency systems and Fireworks program, card access system, CCTV camera system, SIMS reporting, CPU’s, radios and accessories and elevator escalator controls;
  • Conduct and maintain professional and proactive levels of surveillance of all CCTV cameras. Review regularly, conduct inspection of movement patterns, alarm reviews including reporting, specific pre-set time zone reviews and conduct individual quality inspection for all cameras;
  • Key management - Logging and filing of all keys according to structure that is laid out. Conduct daily inspections and log reports. Prepare for next day/shift contractors, repairs or replacement reports;
  • Maintain Lost and Found for the property including a daily review of logs and bins, including use of Personal Digital Assistance Device logs; management of new input or returns and classification of appropriate disposal;
  • Conduct call-outs and complete paperwork (purchase orders or Company specific forms) for any necessary work done on site. Input and monitor all after-hours work order forms as well as dispatching of Operations, housekeeping or attending approved 3rd party contractors as required, including security special event requests or contractor watch;
  • Respond promptly to all employee, tenant or patron issues, redirecting as required to the appropriate department as necessary. Provide training and coaching on an ad-hoc basis for all dispatch requirements and technical aspects of the role including advising of any updates or upgrades to the CCTV, Fireworks or other systems;
  • Perform a variety of administrative functions such as preparation of daily/weekly/monthly inspection sheets, data entry, maintain contact lists of staff, tenant emergency contacts, key holders or other required liaisons, etc.;
  • Document filing and storage including electronic or hard copy components for potential insurance claims to be dealt with at later dates;
  • Review of Emergency Response Plan to ensure components are up-to-date;
  • Review of security reporting system (SIMS). Inspect and ensure all SIMS have been completed as directed for all staff on each shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed:
  • A valid provincial Security License
  • Post-secondary diploma in Security or equivalent (preferred)
  • 3-4 years’ experience with a security firm or similar background
  • CCTV monitoring experience
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience at retail and office mixed use complex
  • A working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Knowledge of Trespass to Property Act
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (asset)
