Position DescriptionThe School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), Division of Music invites applications for sessional instructors to teach the following course in Winter 2023.The Winter 2023 term runs from January 3 to April 28, 2023, Individual course dates are noted below; please see the academic schedule for additional important dates and deadlines.NOTE: THE FOLLOWING COURSE OFFERING IS TENTATIVE, PENDING FUNDING AND SUFFICIENT ENROLMENTS.DRAM 481.2 Advanced Topics in Theatre Practice (Theatre and Technology)Winter 2023 Sem 1 Thursday 12:30 - 13:50; Lab 1 Thursday 14:00-15:20One Sessional hired at 1.0 HCE.Course description: Immersive Theatre, Wearable Electronics for Costume Design, Design for Devised Theatre, Professional Practice and Career Preparation, Intimacy Coaching, Stage Combat Choreography, Site-Specific Theatre, Advanced Mask and Puppetry, Codes of Performance in Ancient Drama, and Directing, Design and Dramaturgy.WINTER 2023 FOCUSThe specific focus of the Winter 2023 iteration of DRAM 481 focusses on the interaction between theatre practices and technology.Course Hours: 3 units; (1.5S-1.5)Prerequisite(s): 12 units in the field of DramaQualifications/Requirements:

  • MFA in Drama/Theatre
  • National and international recognition as a professional theatre artist
  • Successful experience as an instructor at post-secondary level in the area of theatre performance and technology
  • Successful experience integrating new media technologies in professional theatrical design, including VR, AR and AI applications
  • Expertise in a range of software and digital creation tools, including lighting and scenic design technologies (e.g., Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Lightwing), media servers (e.g., Qlab, ArKaOs, Isadora) 3D creation tools (e.g., Unity, Ureal, Blender), VR platforms (e.g., AltSpace, VRChat, NEOS) and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Active profile in research and publication related to the application of new technologies in performance contexts, including digital dramaturgy and mediated performance creation
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversification and decolonization in personal and professional practice
