Job Description

NEW BRIGHTON RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION JOB POSTINGSeasonal ContractSkating/Hockey InstructorSCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The New Brighton Residents Association (NBRA) is seeking an individual for a seasonal contract to instructor skating and beginner hockey lessons for children at the New Brighton Clubhouse during the months of January & February 2023.HOURS OF WORK: Mondays & Wednesdays 4pm-8pm (dependent on program registration).SPECIFIC DUTIES: Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the Skating/Hockey Instructor is responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • Plan and execute weekly lesson plans for each age group (ages 3-4yrs, 5-7 yrs & 8-11 yrs) & program.
  • Provide an impactful experience for residents and non-residents participating in registered programs.
  • Ability to deal with customer questions and concerns.
  • Maintain a safe environment by following policies & procedures to manage risks associated with skating experiences.
  • Lead progressive lesson plans that introduce participants to physical literacy by building fundamental movement skills though skating programs. Class sizes consist of maximum 12 children
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting an inclusive environment.
  • Support the administrative systems required for skating programs & services including waivers, program schedules and class lists.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous experience with coaching hockey/ringette and teaching learning to skate programs with children & youth.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
  • Can-Skate/NCCP certification or equivalent is an asset.
  • Self‐motivated, punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Able to teach outdoors in all weather conditions.
