Job Description

Are you looking to start a career in the trades and have completed a SAIT pre-employment course Or are a currently registered 1st or 2nd year apprentice and looking to gain experience building and working on some of the largest and most advanced natural gas compression, gas processing, electric power generation and carbon capture equipment in the global energy industry. And you also enjoy working as part of a teamThen you’re exactly who we want!An Apprentice plays a very important role in our fabrication shop performing tasks which include but are not limited to - Being mentored by and assisting a Journeyperson on projects with reading and interpreting drawings, planning, prioritizing and using the skills of the trade to complete the work scope on assigned projects.The successful applicant will be an Apprentice who has a great attitude and work ethic, has a continual focus on safety, must be open to learning new skills and takes personal pride in their work. He/She must have an eye for detail in order to meet and exceed internal and external customer expectations.Enerflex hires Apprentices from the following Trades: Autobody/Paint, Boilermaker, Electrician, Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), Instrumentation and Control Technician, Steamfitter-Pipefitter and Welder.With a foundation of integrity, the candidate would use commitment and creativity to drive our organization forward. This position is based out of Enerflex’s South East Calgary facility.General Responsibilities and Duties of an Apprentice.

  • Follow all shop safety and job specific safety protocols
  • Read, and be able to interpret drawings and job specifications to satisfactorily complete assigned work
  • Select type and size of materials required for the task (depending on trade)
  • Measure, cut, and thread materials using hand and power tools (depending on trade)
Qualifications.
  • Must be enrolled as an Apprentice in Alberta or have graduated from a SAIT pre-employment course for one of the trades listed above
  • Tickets in WHMIS, TDG, H2S Alive are assets
  • Possess excellent communication, organizational and people skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. (specific to mechanical roles)
  • Ability to work overtime or shift work as required
  • Results oriented and a team player
  • Due to the safety sensitive nature of the position; applicant must be able to pass a fitness test and a Drug & Alcohol test
