Click Here: The Gibson WayInterestedReporting to the Manager of Operational Accounting, this position is responsible to coordinate the accurate and efficient completion of monthly accounting records for Terminals and Pipelines Accounting including journal entries, results reports, and account reconciliations. In addition, this position is responsible for investigating and documenting reasons for variances between actual and forecasted results.What Youll Be Doing
  • Review and approve general ledger journal entries based on monthly, quarterly, and annual requirements.
  • Regularly oversee invoicing system data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with the completion of Monthly Operating Results package to meet established deadlines.
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests from Tax, and Corporate Reporting.
  • Coordinate responses to CSOX and audit requests and walkthroughs.
  • Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process for the Business Unit.
  • Participate in the testing and implementation of new system releases.
  • Prepare government reporting, as required.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
What Youll Bring
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree and CPA designation or equivalent is required.
  • 5+ years related work experience.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • Experience in the use of relational database systems and proficient with Windows-based applications including Excel, word processing, and database software.
  • Process improvement mindset with the ability to follow through with implementation.
  • Self motivated to achieve agreed upon goals and objectives.
  • Adaptable, innovative, and a well-organized team player.
  • Ability to effectively interact with individuals within the company in the Calgary and field offices.
Knowledge Considered an Asset
  • Knowledge of the crude oil industry is an asset.
Working Conditions
  • The majority of the work is performed in an office environment.
  • Gibson has a hybrid work environment for Calgary-based employees (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we work from the Calgary Head Office). On Monday and Friday, work can be done remotely.
