Job Description

As such, we welcome talented individuals that have a variety of perspectives, backgrounds, and industry experience who will contribute to the success of our One Parkland team.Position Title: Supply Contract ManagerTeam and Location: Supply & Trading - Calgary, ABPosition Summary:Reporting to Director Supply and Trading, the position entails buying and selling refined products for the Parkland system across Canada. The successful candidate will need to develop a strong working relationship with industry supply partners and internal supply and business teams. The successful candidate will need to incubate and develop new supply strategies to further enable profitable growth and improve cost effectiveness. This role is key in sustaining and enhancing Parkland’s supply advantage in Canada, ensuring that our retail, commercial, and wholesale businesses are positioned to execute Parkland’s organic growth and acquisition objectives.Key Responsibilities:Supply

  • In conjunction with Director, Supply and Trading, implement Parkland’s strategic long-term supply strategy including the development of appropriate infrastructure which would enable the execution of those strategies.
  • Lead and coordinate Parklands fuels, term, spot, Canadian supply negotiations of ~10 billion liters of fuel required by Parkland’s Retail, Commercial and Wholesale channels across Canada.
  • Assist or lead exchange agreement negotiations that anchor product into the Burnaby refinery.
  • Leverage Parkland’s import program and Eastern Canada infrastructure to develop new supply sources and pricing strategies to secure import alternative pricing.
  • Develop market awareness and communicate any industry trends or opportunities to internal stakeholders Manage and build a strong working relationship with the Parkland internal business and functional teams.
Contract Execution and Supply Reliability:
  • Work with supply operations to ensure execution of supply agreements and lift direction to meet our monthly and annual nominations with suppliers, as well as the execution of locations and supplier arbitrage opportunities.
  • Development of strategies to mitigate supply disruptions and oversee the resolution of operational obstacles.
Corporate Development:
  • Representing supply and supporting Parkland’s Corporate Development and Strategy teams to recognize supply synergies and evaluate enterprise implications of targeted acquisitions and supply infrastructure projects in Canada.
  • Once transactions are complete, responsible for reviewing and translating synergies into actionable enterprise wins.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Post-Secondary degree in related field (Business, Accounting, Engineering).
  • 5+ years of supply & trading experience, ideally in the Canadian marketplace.
  • 5+ years of experience dealing with complex commercial negotiations and managing significant business relationships with suppliers across Canada.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically over a 3 to 5 year time frame, creating effective strategies and converting into action.
  • Experience with complex supply negotiations which cross retail, commercial and refinery channels.
  • Understands complex interactions of inter-related business functions.
  • Background in Canadian refined fuel supply logistics or refinery operations would be an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, and problem-solving skills, including the strong ability to effectively manage business relationships.
  • Ability to juggle many responsibilities at once, including the ever changing market and logistics landscape as a result of unforeseen circumstances.
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal biofuel legislation and their impacts on Domestic supply.
  • Knowledge of Canadian General Standards Board’s fuel specifications for refined products.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Effective team player who works with others achieving optimal enterprise outcomes.
  • Robust computer and related software skills would be an asset.
