Job Description

Support & Information Line Relief StaffCalgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) is the primary sexual violence service provider for Calgary and surrounding areas. We are a dynamic service delivery agency that offers a dual mandate of clinical and education programs. CCASA is seeking a number of Support & Information Line Relief Staff. These individuals will provide crisis intervention, information, support, advocacy, and referrals over the phone to clients accessing our services. We are looking for compassionate, dynamic and flexible individuals who are able to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.Responsibilities of the Support and Information Line Relief Staff include:

  • Provide support and crisis intervention to individuals accessing both CCASA’s Support and Information Line as well as Alberta’s One-Line for Sexual Violence via phone, text, and online chat
  • Respond to and support disclosures of sexual abuse/assault in a professional and supportive manner
  • Complete thorough risk assessments
  • Provide information, advocacy and referrals
  • Provide consultation and information to professionals and other community members
  • Complete required administrative tasks including auditing text and chat data, data entry and documentation
  • Other duties as required
Time Commitment:
  • This is a part-time role that typically consists of three-four 4 hour shifts per month:
  • Shifts will be based on the program’s needs – either weeknight shifts from 5-9pm or weekend shifts, either from 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm or 5pm-9pm
  • One or more weekday daytime shifts per month (e.g., Wednesday from 11am-12pm) to provide coverage for the Crisis and Support Counselling Team
  • This role requires applicants to have a flexible schedule with the ability to support with last minute shift requests
  • 1 hour monthly supervision with the Volunteer Program Supervisor
  • Additional time will be needed during the training process
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:
  • A degree in social/human services; Bachelor of Social Work preferred.
  • Prior experience with CCASA’s volunteer program
  • Comfortable working independently
  • Ability to work from home using a quiet, dedicated space that provides complete privacy and no interruptions
  • Access to a reliable computer, phone and internet service
  • Possess an anti-oppressive/feminist analysis of sexual violence
  • Strong assessment and crisis intervention skills
  • Demonstrated effective communication, advocacy and rapport building skills
  • Comfortable and competent using computers with experience using the One-Line Platform
  • Must be registered if degree or diploma falls under a regulatory body
