Job Description

Your Opportunity:HR Shared Services is looking for Payroll Team Lead for our Foundation and Trust organizations. This team is responsible for end-to-end payroll processes for 15 charitable organizations and reports to the Director Payroll Operations.Description:The Payroll Team Lead provides day to day direction and leadership to a team that performs payroll and benefit related transactions. This position is responsible for the management of the Health Foundations Payroll, Benefits & Pension. This position supervises and is recognized as the functional expert within HR Shared Services to effectively manage and administer the human resources, payroll, pension, benefit and recruitment policies, contracts, programs, and procedures. Work processes encompass duties that vary overpay cycles or year-end periods and require the incumbents to understand and apply knowledge of collective agreements, terms & conditions, payroll legislation, programs, processes and systems to carry out core duties and responsibilities. Work is performed independently; decisions, advice and recommendations are made based on established policies, programs, procedures and guidelines. The Incumbent investigates and resolves complex problems and/or unusual issues or the issues are escalated to the Director, Payroll Operations. The HR Shared Services Team Lead uses professional concepts and AHS policies and procedures to practically and creatively solve multiple problems that normally impact the immediate work group. Interacts daily with work group members and/or peers as well as stakeholders and partners of various Foundations. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.

Required Qualifications:Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) – Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation or Certified Payroll Manager designation. Applicable college diploma or university degree.Additional Required Qualifications:3 to 5 years’ experience with payroll processing within a large organization, where multiple terms of employment and/or collective agreements are administered. Sound knowledge and expertise in HR Management Systems (e.g., PeopleSoft) including reporting tools. Confident and comfortable completing annual performance appraisals and having performance conversations. Able to manage and lead a team to deliver on quality, accuracy and sustainable targets aligned with organizational and operational priorities. Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage multiple and competing priorities. Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a Healthcare environment. Experience working in a unionized environment.
