This position is core to the East Trading desk’s ability to deliver trading results. Reporting directly to the Manager, East Trading, as the Trader you are a key member of the team to to generate gross margin by executing proprietary trading strategies. You are responsible for accurate position and P&L monitoring, and sharing strong fundamental power and natural gas analytics with the rest of the team. It’s a requirement to add a positive gross margin to the Trading and Marketing Group consistent with the agreed-upon plan within the allocated risk limitations provided.This position is based out of our Head Office in Downtown Calgary.WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Accountable for all personal trade execution and accurate deal capture Complete all annual compliance training
  • Price and manage non-standard products (options, shaped volumes, etc.)
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Risk, Settlement, and Credit groups) to resolve all trade or financial discrepancies related to the Eastern business
  • Deliver on revenue goals set out by the Manager and MD Share ideas with the rest of the desk
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOUTo be successful in this role, we are looking for the following must-have qualifications and experience:
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science 5+ years related market and trading experience
  • Able to process information and make decisions in a timely fashion
  • Ability to effectively communicate with counterparts and customers
  • Can effectively make educated decisions under pressure
  • Pays attention to detail and demonstrates diligence
  • Creates and maintains strong relationships with peers
