Job Description

We are looking for a Full time Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist to join our team!Britannia Kingsland Veterinary Clinic is a small animal and exotic practice located in SW, Calgary, Alberta. We are a full service veterinary practice offering all the conventional amenities. We are a little different in that we also offer alternative medicine. We like to use an integrative approach when looking after a pet’s health. When appropriate we recommend Chinese herbs, chiropractic, or acupuncture integrated with western medicine. We also have digital radiology, laser surgery, laser therapy, a full in-house lab system and the latest monitoring equipment.Veterinary Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of the Veterinarian and/or Animal Health Technologist, assist with the patient’s care including restraint, euthanasia, surgery, treatments and post operative care.
  • Run blood or urine in our in house lab machines.
  • Accurately enter client and patient information electronically
  • Conduct follow-up phone calls to clients regarding the treated animal’s health.
  • Maintain meticulous records of patient health care and examination notes.
  • Help clients cope with their animal’s health condition, euthanasia or pet loss in a compassionate manner.
  • Maintain inventory levels: ordering food, drugs and supplies as required.
  • Clean, package, and prepare surgical instruments.
  • General cleaning and housekeeping duties.
  • General administrative duties such as greeting clients, answering phones, responding to emails, etc.
  • Additional duties, as required.
Job Requirements
  • Must have excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Exceptional time-management skills, critical thinking skills and efficiency in a busy environment
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Applicants must also be able to work flexible hours.
  • Consistently safe and effective patient handling skills
  • Previous experience (preferred)
