ABOUT US:Startec Compressionamp; Process is dedicated to providing innovative solutions to meet your unique challenges and opportunities.We are an integrated project and engineering equipment fabricator specializing in the modularized design and packaging of process, refrigeration, and rotating equipment solutions. POSITION OVERVIEW:Startec Compressionamp; Process is currently recruiting a Vessel Lead Hand to work dayshift at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).The Vessel Lead Hand is responsible for leading a team in the fabrication and assembly of pressure vessels, ensuring that work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Reporting to the Vessel Supervisor This role involves hands-on supervision, troubleshooting, and coordination with the Vessel Supervisor to meet production targets and maintain efficiency in operations.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyperson Certificate in welding
  • 5+ years of B Pressure welding would be an asset
  • Experience in building exchangers and pressure vessels would be an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret all red-line markups and blueprints
  • Working knowledge of the Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code as it pertains to our industry.
  • Strong knowledge of assembly/fabrication/production processes, techniques, and quality control methods.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT (Weighting 80%)Team Leadership
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team, ensuring adherence to specifications, safety protocols, and schedules.
  • Identify skill gaps, provide training, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Encourage best practices and innovation in vessel fabrication.
  • Communicate effectively with the Vessel Supervisor, providing updates and addressing challenges.
Process Optimization and Quality Control
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and optimize workflow to maintain efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Manage resources, ensuring efficient use and timely availability of materials and equipment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues, addressing deviations from specifications, and collaborating with Quality Control to maintain standards.
SAFETY (Weighting 20%)Compliance
  • Promote and enforce a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with safety policies and conducting regular briefings.
  • Conduct inspections, address safety hazards, and respond to incidents or near misses promptly.
Documentation and Budget Management
  • Ensure accurate documentation of production, quality, and safety records.
  • Assist in budget management, balancing cost control with quality and safety standards.
