Job Description

Geosyntec is seeking an experienced Site Manager to work in the Savron division of our geo-environmental practice in our Cambridge, Ontario office. You will support the planning, construction, commissioning, and operations of STAR and STARx soil remediation facilities at international and domestic project sites. You will serve as an integral part of our team ensuring our projects are completed safely and successfully. You should have technical understanding and experience with construction quality assurance for various construction projects and experience with site management.The primary goal of this position will be to act as Savron s field representative at project sites and effectively oversee the alignment of construction, commissioning and operations with predefined plans, drawings and procedures. You will provide technical analysis and leadership related to your field of expertise, and Savron will provide opportunities to further develop professional skillsets. You will gain exposure to a variety of remediation initiatives and client sites, while learning how to implement Savron s remediation system designs. The position involves the operation and troubleshooting of system equipment, oversight and direction of subcontractors, communication with Savron project management and coordination with project stake holders. You will be expected to perform and oversee routine maintenance, identify issues via quality assurance and troubleshoot various equipment and processes.The position requires an applicant that is confident, capable and proficient in comprehension of construction plans and specifications. You will be expected to manage multiple team members and subcontractors in a variety of demanding environments and must possess a willingness to work outdoors through extended hours. You will be required to travel (often internationally) and perform prolonged fieldwork which may include weekends, overnights and holidays.   • Monitor activities on job sites to ensure compliance with relevant contract documents (e.g. technical specifications, construction drawings, sampling plans, CQA plans etc.);
  • Provide daily oversight and management of site subcontractors and site activities including but not limited to construction, commissioning, and operations;
  • Prepare daily field reports & progress report. Actively communicate with Savron/Geosyntec project management and subcontractor teams;
  • Perform duties required of a full-time operator of Savron remediation systems, including;
    • Perform data analysis using graphs and trends;
    • Perform equipment inspections and diagnostics;
    • Perform soil and process gas analytical sampling;
    • Complete maintenance items as required, troubleshoot equipment/process issues and use hand and power tools as per project policy and procedures;
    • Gain an understanding of the dynamic nature of operating Savron systems, apply response procedures to common operational scenarios and communicate operational knowledge to trainees;
  • Assist in the preparation of the final data packages, health and safety documents, as-built drawing packages and reports;
  • Ensure project documentation is correct and consistent with company policy & procedures;
  • Interact with project personnel (contractors, project managers, engineers & clients) and assist in cultivating an integrated team approach through open lines of communications and participation in work progress meetings; and
  • Observe and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans and the company s Environmental Health and Safety Management policies and procedures.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of eight (8) years of applicable experience; or Associate s degree or equivalent from a two-year college and a minimum of six (6) years of applicable experience; or a Bachelor s degree in science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects and a minimum of four (4) years of applicable experience; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position.   • Member of OACETT as a C.E.T. or C.Tech. (preferred)
  • Technical experience in construction services and/or processing plant operations; civil, geotechnical, environmental, process engineering or related engineering disciplines. (required)
  • Ability to monitor several different types of construction and material handling activities simultaneously. (required)
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment fabrication drawings. (required)
  • Mechanical experience including the use of typical hand tools and power tools. (required)
  • Experience and comfort working around large machinery. (required)
  • Experience with multi-media sampling including soil, water, and air. (preferred)
  • Experience with the operation of industry typical monitoring and data collection equipment, including but not limited laptop and handheld computers, digital multimeters, photoionization detector, four gas meters or similar. (preferred)
  • Experience in oversight and/or undertaking of welding operations (preferred)
  • Experience with Windows based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.). (required)
  • Experience with PLC systems, system controls/automation; I/O configuration, power distribution etc. (preferred)
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unaided and 50-100 pounds with assistance and/or proper engineering controls. (required)
  • Ability to speak and hear, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or craw. (required)
  • Strong willingness to work outdoors with interest in building a career in the environmental consulting field. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be self-motivated, and possess a strong work ethic. (required)
  • Valid Canadian driver s license and a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation for business travel. (required)
