Job Description

Overview:The R&D Asst Scientist - Specification Specialist will support specification creation and maintenance for the Canada Regional R&D team. This role supports the specification process flow and specification documents across multiple brands and products, from specification inception through in-market launch, including maintenance. Please note, this is a 1 year contract.The Pepsico Foods Canada portfolio is a broad portfolio across many technology platforms including potato chips, tortilla chips, extruded, bars and baked goods. As the specification specialist for PFC Canada, you will have unique opportunities to apply technical knowledge by working with product developers to prepare and generate raw material, product, and process specifications.   • Manage specification workflows from initiation to final approval.
  • Create specification documents including ingredients, product, process, composition, salt/seasoning conversion etc.
  • Develop expertise and work within various spec systems including Product Vision, Xspec, EDocs, PDMS etc
  • Partner with Canada Regional R&D team for all technical details related to specification creation and upkeep.
  • Partner with the current GFGC specification team to create and route all required documentation for review and approval.
  • Collaborate with x-discipline (Product Development, etc.) and x-function (GFGC {Food Safety, Regulatory, Quality, Specification Documentation, etc.}, Operations, Purchasing, etc.) on new/ existing specifications and new business proposals.
  • Communicate with Seasoning/Ingredient suppliers to obtained critical information for specification creation, updating, and final approval.
Qualifications:
  • BSc in Food Science, chemistry, or other related applied science/technology disciplines
  • 2+ years with a CPG company with demonstrated experience in specification development
  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated competency to manage multiple projects and deliver results while overcoming obstacles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and willingness to ask clarifying questions to ensure specification excellence.
  • Possess strong work ethic and ability to be a self-starter.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment as well as manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adapts to change well with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers.
  • Outstanding teamwork and communication skills
