Job Description

SOS-Students is a growing tutoring service company looking for reliable and enthusiastic tutors in the fields of Math, Science, English, and French. Tutors should be passionate about helping studentsof all ages reach their academic potential. For our clients’ comfort, we provide our one-on-one tutoring service in their homes. Our management team always meets with the families first to assure security and evaluate the customer’s needs. Tutors must also provide a police background check before being hired. We provide a competitive salary to our tutors starting from $16/hr.A qualified candidate will have the following criteria:

  • Enjoy teaching and capable of explaining challenging concepts in simplified and fun methods
  • Familiar with the current Ontario Primary and Secondary curriculum
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to quality customer service and punctuality
  • Able to establish and maintain trusted and respected relationships with clients
  • Able to teach specialization to one or more of the following levels: Elementary, High School
  • Have access to a car to commute to students houses in the Kitchener-Waterloo region
  • Available to work evenings and weekends
  • Adhere to a set schedule for a minimum of the student’s school term (5 months)
  • A selected candidate will be responsible for:
    • Teaching individuals /small groups of students (Maximum 3 students)
    • Preparing coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts
    • Evaluating the student’s class work and assignments
    • Accelerating and motivating the learning process for students, as required
    • Providing feedback of student work progress to student, director, and parents on an ongoing basis
    • Working with the directors to create individualized lesson plans to meet identified learning goals
