The successful candidate has the option to participate in inpatient care at Valley Regional Hospital (VRH), help support the after-hours clinic in Wolfville, or offer support in other avenues during after hours to care for the patient population. Billing support is provided by two part-time office staff.VRH opened its doors to patients in 1992. The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia. Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents.Services:ambulatory carecardiovascular servicesclinical dieteticscommunity cancer servicesdiagnostic imagingemergency medicineintensive care unitlaboratory servicesmedical and surgical unitmental health and addiction servicesobstetricsoccupational therapypalliative carepediatricsphysiotherapypsychiatryrehabilitation servicesResponsibilitiesensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illnessbe accountable for appropriate workload and practicecontinuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and/or communityprovide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level heath carebuild to capacity within the first two yearsoperate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authoritywork toward same day or next day access for the practice populationwork in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community’s health needswork with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when requiredparticipate in quality improvement and evaluation activitieutilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team membersExpected Hourspart-timeQualificationsall applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)all family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Community DetailsCanning is a village that offers historic charm and warm community atmosphere.
