Job Description

DescriptionAre you looking for a challenging and exciting career with a progressive, growing and successful bulk transportation company Lomak Bulk Carriers Corp. is looking for someone who has a proven track record in a senior leadership role.DutiesProvide a workplace in accordance with industry standards and in compliance with company policy and legislative regulations. Strive to eliminate any foreseeable hazards which may result in personal injury, illness, accidents or property damage. Ensure that all employees receive proper training and instruction by assisting Supervisors with implementation of training program. Monitor training and compliance through regular field observations and provide constructive feedback to Supervisors and workers. Work with Director of Operations, Supervisors and workers to develop new and update existing Safe Work Procedures as required. Ensure investigations are completed for all incidents and that corrective actions are taken to avoid repeat incidents. Ensure the terminal holds monthly safety meetings, monthly facility inspections are completed, and deficiencies remedied. Ensure annual emergency drills are conducted and documented Set a positive example for all employees to follow. Maintain and review safety award program(s) alongside Human Resources. Develop and maintain positive working relationship with customers. Main point of contact for customers regarding daily operations and safety. Ensure needs of customer’s health and safety program are being met. Coordinate with customer on a regular basis to ensure products are moved on schedule and that adjustments are made to trucking rate as required. Maintain regular communication with customer to review performance and ensure we are meeting or exceeding customer’s expectations. Provide a workplace with a positive culture that reflects company values. Facilitate Hiring Process alongside Human Resources at the terminal and ensure that proper procedure is followed when recruiting. Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with employees. Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to Supervisors and employees. Perform yearly performance reviews of all direct reports and provide constructive feedback and ensure Supervisors perform yearly performance reviews of their direct reports and provide constructive feedback. This includes completing their performance contract and development plan. Monitor absenteeism program and assist management and Supervision with implementation. Monitor disciplinary program and assist management and Supervision with implementation. Oversee daily operations and performance at the terminal and discuss successes and areas for potential improvement at weekly operations meeting. Aid in the development and execution of the operational strategy. Monitor daily dispatch and scheduling to ensure customer’s needs are met, target volumes achieved, and assist Driver Supervisors as needed. Ensure equipment availability expectations are met by managing maintenance program on our equipment Identify opportunities and improve performance of operations through continuous improvement initiatives. In cooperation with Leadership Team, develop the Company’s annual budget which will reflect the coming year’s operating costs, capital expenditures and anticipated profit Monitor weekly operating statements and unit cost summaries to ensure monthly budget is met or exceeded and identify areas where improvement is required. Participate in weekly senior management meetings and operations meetings to discuss overall progress and share best practices Oversee month end activities and ensure they are completed on target Oversee bi-weekly payroll at terminal and ensure it is completed on timeQualificationsMinimum of 2 years’ experience managing in a similar capacity Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of business contacts Organizational and team leadership experience developing high-performance teams Excellent conflict resolution skills; works well under stress Ability to multi-task and delegate as needed Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence Comfortable with technology; knowledge of Microsoft Office Knowledge of DOT regulation Experience in the forestry industry preferredBenefitsCompetitive compensation rate Competitive retirement package Excellent benefits package including dental, pharmaceutical, vision, orthodontic, paramedical, and more Shift schedule is Monday to Friday, though on call is a mustQuick Apply
