The successful candidate will be responsible for efficient prioritization of multiple responsibilities to meet the requirements of the department/unit utilizing initiative, judgement, and knowledge, in a confidential setting.The Secretary may be required to provide coverage in the absence of other secretaries in the portfolio.QualificationsCompletion of Grade XII plus graduate of a business, office information technology, medical office assistant, secretarial course or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum of two years secretarial experience requiredMedical Terminology Course or equivalentAdvanced working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs, specifically Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)Knowledge and prior experience in use of SAP software and Meditech considered an assetAdaptable to change and is flexible to accommodate the expectations of the positionAbility to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary teamDemonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including direct interaction with clients, staff and publicDemonstrated excellent organizational and prioritizing skillsDemonstrated commitment to self-learning and continuous professional developmentPhysical ability to perform duties of the positionGood work and attendance recordCommitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basisCommitment to confidentiality and privacy of Nova Scotia Health patients and clientsMust be bilingual in French and English** A skill test may be included as part of the selection process **Please Note: Candidates will not be considered for an interview if applications are incomplete or are missing information.
