Come be a part of our success.We are currently recruiting for a GIS Specialist for our sawmill in Adams Lake, BC. The GIS Specialist will be responsible for supporting strategic initiatives and providing GIS systems and analytical forest management support. The GIS Specialist plays a key role in identifying encumbrances that place a downward pressure on the timber that is available for harvesting as well as maintaining all inventory data and associated constraints/encumbrance data sets to carry out timber supply work and both operational and strategic level decision support analysis.What Youll Do

  • Undertake GIS analysis to support decision making for land use planning including First Nations, wildlife management, and timber supply purposes.
  • Troubleshoot LRM user issues.
  • Maintain GPS data collection standards and corresponding data dictionaries.
  • Map template creation and maintenance.
  • General maintenance, loading and updating of GIS datasets including spatial and tabular editing.
  • Query and update Oracle database using SQL in SQL Developer or TOAD.
  • Update and maintain multi-user ArcSDE geodatabase and database views.
  • Provide ArcGIS Enterprise system expertise, training, and support to staff.
What You Offer
  • Minimum 3 years’ related GIS experience in the forestry sector.
  • but a combination of other education/training and experience will also be considered.
  • Solid understanding of ESRI ArcMap, MS Access, and MS Excel to perform and present complex analytical projects to support strategic initiatives.
  • Working knowledge for the management and maintenance of LRM and other related software to support forestry business objectives.
  • Participate in training courses as required to support job functions.
  • Commitment to maintain a safe work environment without compromise.

  • Open-minded and positive in dealing with change.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the team and other departments.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL Server, SQL, VBA, etc.
  • Proficiency with ESRI/ArcGIS product suite.
