Mylen commits to being at the forefront good environmental stewardship in dealings with suppliers, customers, employees, the government and community and therefore is dedicated to reducing the environmental footprint by providing products and services that enable its customers to reduce their environmental impact as well.To continue with the assurance of unmatched quality, style and innovative design, with sustainable attributes like recycled materials, low-emitting composite wood, and low-VOC finishes, Mylen is excited to announce that we are currently pursuing to add to our professional dedicated team in the position of:HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGERPOSITION SUMMARYThe Human Resources Manager is responsible for driving and changing people management and strategy across the organization. Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, the Human Resources Manager will implement, guide and manage the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies and programs that will provide an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. The Human Resources Manager additionally be responsible for the development of processes and metrics that support the achievement of the organization’s business goals.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEmployment Law:

  • Lead company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements, while maintaining minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
  • Direct the preparation of information requested or required for compliance with laws.
  • Approve all information submitted, serving as the primary contact with the company employment law attorney and outside government agencies.
  • Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations, with a focus on minimizing risk.
Employee Relations/Communication:
  • Guide and manage Human Resources related matters.
  • Continuously build professional, productive and positive internal and external working relationships, developing focused solutions.
  • Coach and train management and supervisory staff in their communication, feedback, recognition and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them, making certain that management and supervisors know how to successfully, ethically, honestly and legally communicate with employees.
  • Monitor and advise managers and supervisors in progressive disciplinary procedures and implementation of necessary performance improvement processes with non-performing employees.
  • Review, guide, and approve management recommendations for employment terminations, while administering meeting(s) and the necessary paperwork.
  • Maintain communication with all departments to identify and address areas of concern.
  • Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Conduct periodic surveys to measure employee satisfaction and employee engagement in various areas of the organization (i.e., benefits satisfaction, wages, company activities, employee interaction, etc.)
  • Investigate, follow-up and mediate employee concerns to come to equitable resolution with adherence to progressive disciplinary procedures.
  • Offer fairness, encouragement and advice, identifying the need for training, employee services, counseling and/or performance improvement plans.
Recruitment and Retention:
  • Establish and lead standard internal and external recruiting and hiring practices and procedures, which include internal job posting, job advertising, screening resumes, scheduling and conducting interviews, performing reference checks, creating job offers and follow up with successful and unsuccessful candidates.
  • Create and maintain position descriptions within the organization.
  • Manage employee recognition/appreciation programs and activities.
  • Oversee for the hiring process and on-boarding, including applicable paperwork, orientation, facility tours and introductions, etc.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, administer and document performance reviews and employee personal development plans throughout the organization.
  • Foster and promote a strong, productive and enjoyable team environment.
Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS):
  • Manage the development and maintenance of the Human Resources sections of both the company website, particularly recruiting, culture and company information, as well as the employee Intranet, wikis, newsletters, etc., as applicable.
  • Utilize the HRIS system to eliminate administrative tasks, empower employees and meet the other needs of the organization.
Training and Development:
  • Coordinate all Human Resources training programs and assign the responsibility of Human Resources and managers within those programs.
  • Research, quote and provide/administer the necessary Human Resources education and materials to managers and employees, including workshops, seminars, manuals, courses, employee handbooks and standardized reports.
  • Establish an in-house employee training system that addresses company training needs, including training needs assessment, new employee onboarding or orientation, management/supervisory development, production cross-training, the measurement of training impact and training transfers.
  • Assist managers with the selection and contracting of external training programs and consultants.
  • Assist with the development of and monitor spending of the corporate training budget.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee training records through the Human Resources training matrix.
Benefits and Compensation:
  • Liaison with finance department on areas of shared information.
  • Develop and manage Human Resources budget and forecast expenditures for each fiscal year.
  • Participate in strategic cost savings initiatives and compensation surveys and research pay equity to remain competitive in industry market.
  • Manage WSIB reporting claims.
  • Maintain and administer leaves of absence and return to work programs.
  • Manage and administer current benefits program to all personnel.
  • Research various benefits carriers or work with outsourced benefits broker to remain competitive in industry market to deliver comprehensive and cost savings benefits programs to employees.
Process Efficiency:
  • Accurate retention of Human Resources, Health and Safety, employee and other files, as applicable.
  • Track and maintain progressive discipline records and follow-up on progress as required.
  • Create operating and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Identify gaps and the opportunity for improvements through implementation of policies, procedures, dashboard tracking and forecasting to improve efficiency and effective measures of current processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Organizational Development:
  • Design, direct and manage company-wide process of organizational development that addresses issues such as succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, organizational design and change management.
  • Manage employee communication and feedback through such avenues as company meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction surveys, newsletters, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings and Intranet use.
  • Manage a process of organizational planning that evaluates company structure, job design and personnel forecasting throughout the company. Evaluate plans and changes to plans and make recommendations to executive management.
  • Identify and monitor the organization’s culture so that it supports the attainment of the companys goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
  • Participate in a process of organizational development to plan, communicate and integrate the results of strategic planning throughout the organization.
  • Manage company-wide committees, including the wellness, training, health and safety, activity and culture and communications committees.
  • Keep the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the executive team informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of company goals and those that are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Oversee and manage the work of reporting staff, while encouraging ongoing support and development.
  • Lead development of departmental goals, objectives and systems, while providing leadership for Human Resources strategic planning.
  • Participate in executive, management and company staff meetings and also attend other meetings and seminars as applicable to remain current with Human Resources trends and changes.
  • Ability to work in a quality, results driven and fast paced work environment.
  • Conduct continual research of related Human Resources policies, programs and practices and ensure compliance to existing Company policies and procedures, preventative safety measures, Federal and Provincial rules and regulations and other reporting needs, while providing applicable information or procedural updates to the management team.
  • Implement, train and administer the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Oversee the implementation of employee safety, health and wellness.
  • Ensure all activities and conduct are consistent with, and supportive of, Mylen’s policies, goals and objectives.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and reporting is completed correctly and in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to work extended hours or weekends when required.
  • Participate in compulsory training as deemed necessary for the role.
  • CSA steel toed construction grade safety shoes in production area.
  • Means of daily/reliable transportation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Office environment.
  • Typing minimum of 40 words per minute.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management, Business or other related field and/or years’ of experience.
  • Minimum ten years’ of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation considered an asset.
  • Specialized training, knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, employee engagement and development and preventive labor relations preferred.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement preferred.
  • Possess ongoing affiliations with leaders in successful companies and organizations that practice effective Human Resources Management.
  • Strong leadership, relationship and influence skills in the attainment of goals.
  • Strong technical, analytical and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with other leaders on sensitive issues.
  • Ability to effectively analyze situations and/or listen to questions and concerns and communicate to the appropriate person(s) on the Management team.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, meet tight deadlines and effectively follow-up.
  • Process-focused with a concern for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work with little to no direction.
  • Proven ability to effectively facilitate a training session, one on one, or with a group.
  • Intermediate to proficient level computer skills using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • WSIB experience preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Health and Safety certification considered an asset.
