Job Description

(Knowledge, Skill, Experience)

  • Requires a secondary school diploma.
  • Current BCLS certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Patient Portering role required.
  • Thorough knowledge of hospital layout and department locations required
  • Satisfactory attendance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
  • Safe transportation of patients to and from various areas within the hospital at both Chatham campuses.
  • Assisting to transition patients to a safer surface (i.e. from wheelchair to chair or bed) when appropriate.
  • transportation of medical and surgical supplies, equipment, specimens, requisitions, reports and other miscellaneous items.
  • Pick up and delivery x-rays, old charts and other patient care information to and from assigned areas.
  • Participates on hospital committees as appropriate.
