Job Description

(Knowledge, Skill, Experience)

  • Successful completion of Grade 12 Diploma (OSSD).
  • Minimum two years experience in PAO
  • Successful completion of Medical Terminology attained through a recognized course of study and a demonstrated working knowledge.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Pro and Internet access, navigation and utilization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Integrated Client management System data entry program
  • Excellent telephone communication and computer keyboarding skills.
  • Experience with patient Registration preferred.
  • Satisfactory attendance.
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES (Personal Skills and Attributes)
  • Excellent verbal and listening communication skills required.
-Customer-focused teamwork essential - must be able to work within a multidisciplinary team (inclusive of physician offices and the community).
  • Ability to:
  • Work in a sitting position over long periods of time in a busy, sometimes
noisy work environment;
  • Use telephone headset;
  • Work with a sometimes difficult clientele over the telephone.
  • Follow established PAO guidelines and Scheduling procedures required.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and embrace the philosophy of Service Excellence and Patient and Family Centerd Care.
  • Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.
  • Demonstrated performance reflecting the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
  • Attends Pathways Healthcare Scheduling training.
  • Inputs and verifies correct information and confirms the procedure preparation, location and point of registration with Physician offices, patients, and resource unit clinical personnel
  • Schedules, cancels or re-schedules patient appointments for any procedure in various hospital departments.
  • Alerts the appropriate resource unit manager or delegate to any scheduling conflicts related to availability of resources.
