Job Description

Carry out lab activities, prepare reliable data indicative of samples tested in support of research, production and supply chain schedules in a timely and accurate manner. Monitor testing to ensure testing protocols, steps for conducting tests, are applied in order to adhere to policies, procedures, business objectives, regulations, QMS standards and guidelines.Responsibilities:How will you help us grow It matters to us, and it matters to you!

  • Conducts lab activities in accordance with applicable standards, procedures, policies, customer specifications, plans and procedures, QMS and any other protocols or steps for conducting tests governing lab testing.
  • Assists in internal and external audits. Will be involved with external organizations and accreditation related to seed germination, purity, preparation and testing, sample mixing and dividing, and seed weight determination.
  • Assists coordinator/scheduler in preparing Reports of Analysis and other documentation.
  • Assure testing protocols are applied.
  • Maintains necessary documentation and quality records to provide evidence that Corteva objectives, standards, plans and procedures are being followed.
  • Enters daily testing information into system in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assists in review of data for determination of quality of seed based on quality testing results for research, production, supply chain, marketing and sales personnel.
  • Monitor, verify and inspect calibrations for equipment and test conditions.
  • Operate testing machinery such as seed counters, colour sorter, and automated planters as needed.
  • Communicates nonstandard test results or concerns relating to quality, testing, employee and/or equipment to coordinator, supervisor or manager. Discusses questions about scheduling and nonstandard tests and/or data and equipment issues with appropriate company personnel.
  • Maintains reference samples and standards used in testing.
  • Supervises or assists coordinator to supervise activities related to specific area of testing, sample preparation, conducting tests and data input.
  • Assists with technical support and training of coworkers or site production personnel in performing details of testing instructions, as appropriate. Specialized testing techniques involve longer training periods or are of greater complexity and variety.
  • Interacts with site scheduler, team lead and various research, production and supply chain personnel to assist in developing and following testing schedules that minimize backlog while meeting crucial internal dates. Works with internal customers to provide schedules that interface well with other quality testing efforts.
  • Communicates with immediate coworkers, supervisor, other quality lab personnel to develop, monitor and maintain schedules, conduct specialized tests, or assist in reviewing nonconforming test results and assessing how to proceed.
  • Interfaces with appropriate persons from internal functional areas to keep them knowledgeable about related developments or issues.
  • Maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment in compliance with Safety and Health guidelines and housekeeping practices.

  • Minimum education of a high school diploma/GED
  • Previous seeds testing/lab experience or CFIA accredited analyst preferred.
  • Personal computer proficiency.
  • Self motivated.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Ability to work with repetitive tasks and motions while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks to expand knowledge and responsibility.
  • Good communications skills, teaching techniques, arranging and following up on schedules.
  • Works well independently or in a team setting.
  • Handle pressure in a calm, professional manner
  • Ability to fulfill general employment expectations including regular attendance and working specified hours or overtime as defined by supervisor.
  • Ability to work in a wide range of environments and with various technical and professional groups.
  • Getting along with others in the workplace, maintaining acceptable standards of office conduct.
  • Ability to maintain and enforce confidentiality of data related to seed production, processing and storage and salary information.
  • Ability to take ownership/responsibility for processes.
  • Ability to operate specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds ( 22.7Kg).
