The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is currently accepting applications for up to 3 Community Engagement Team Leader Students. These positions will start approximately May 9, 2022, for a period up to August 26, 2022.To qualify for this summer student position, students must currently be enrolled in school full-time for the 2021/2022 winter term (normally ending April, May or June) and/or returning to school full-time in the 2022 fall term (normally starting in August or September).Job descriptionThe Community Engagement Team Leader position is responsible for. the development and implementation of programs and community engagement initiatives/special events across Chatham Kent., collection and analysis of programming/initiative data and feedback. This position will work with community partners to increase reach and participation in recreation programming/events during the summer monthsEssential responsibilitiesDemonstrate Chatham-Kent’s core values and competenciesLead a team of students in a fast-paced and constantly changing community events environmentEnsure staff team is actively engaged in all aspects of program planning, set-up, conducting activities and actively participating in activities including swimming, clean-up and evaluationFollow policies and procedures in place relevant to the positionCommunicate with parents and community members as requiredMay be required to modify activities to ensure age appropriatenessAssist with data collection and analysis at community eventsCoordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of community engagement initiatives, events and special projects throughout Chatham-KentImplement the philosophies of HIGH FIVEAttend events across the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and act as an ambassador for recreationAssist with special projects to support CKRecreationWork both indoors and outdoors, with regularly scheduled weekend and evening hoursEssential qualificationsTo qualify for this summer student position, students must currently be enrolled in school full-time for the 2021/2022 winter term (normally ending April, May or June) and/or returning to school full-time in the 2022 fall term (normally starting in August or September)Preference will be given to those enrolled in first year or above in post-secondary education in a recreation, special events or child and youth related program, and one or more years of experience in the field of program planningBecause of the responsibilities of the program for Camp Team Leaders, applicants must be 16 years of age or older to applyStrong customer service skills and experience working with the publicPossess exceptional verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working with a wide range of peopleStrong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) (or similar software program)Certifications, memberships, licensesCurrent Certification in Standard First Aid/CPR (WSIB approved) prior to camps openingCertified with the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development (provided during camp training at cost)Work environment/hours of workWork both indoors and outdoors, with afternoon, weekend and evening hoursMay & June: Daytime hours with the occasional weekend and evening hoursJuly & August: Work an altered work week – Wed-Sun with mostly evening hoursMunicipality of Chatham-Kent COVID-19 Vaccination PolicyThe Municipality of Chatham-Kent has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy. All new employees must be fully vaccinated (with booster) as a condition of employment unless approved for an exemption.Driver’s licence/vehicle requirementsBecause of the responsibilities, this position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G or G2 Ontario driver’s licence; a driver’s abstract will be conducted by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent. An acceptable driver’s abstract will: be an original document and current (within the previous thirty (30) days); have no more than four (4) demerit points; have no more than two (2) convictions for the same offence; have no criminal code convictions; have no ‘non-medical or administrative’ license suspension in the preceding three (3) years; because this position may be required to drive their own vehicle, a reliable vehicle is also required.Background check requirementsBecause of the environment this position will be working in, the successful candidate will be required to furnish an original Police Information Search (criminal reference check) (working with vulnerable persons) prior to commencement of employment; you must be 18 years of age or older to obtain a vulnerable police check.
