BC Corrections manages community work service and supports offenders to make positive changes in their behaviour and attitudes. Adult Custody is one of four divisions of BC Corrections and is responsible for the care of approximately 2,800 male and female inmates. Adult Custody provides custodial supervision for adults sentenced to incarceration and those remanded to custody. It provides core programs and additional services which balance risks and needs; ensures linkage with Community Corrections based on common core programming and integrated case management; communicates with stakeholders and participates as a pro-active partner in the criminal justice system.The Leadership team at the Adult Custody divisional headquarters develop and effectively manage operational, program, offender management, human resources, fiscal and capital strategic plans that direct the operations of all adult custody correctional centres and the division as a whole. These strategies are developed and implemented to ensure that Ministry service plan objectives are met.The Assistant Deputy Warden (ADW) provides expert advice, guidance, and recommendations to the senior managers on strategic issues and challenges, and recommends revised approaches. The ADW participates in the direction, development, evaluation, and integration of a variety of programs and services designed to promote and support Adult Custody initiatives and major provincial projects.The position has a peace officer designation and as such is held to a higher standard of conduct, both on and off duty, by the employer, the public, and the courts.There is currently one position available in the following area:

Positions in this evolving area within BC Corrections will be responsible for implementing a quality management process to support correctional center staff, individuals in custody, and to strengthen policy consistency and compliance province wide. This portfolio may entail additional responsibilities regarding use of force reviews, a variety of internal reviews and other supportive functions the centres may require.The position may be located within a geographical location close to a BC Correctional Centre.
