Job Description

Status:NewDetailsPosting #:E2203Title:Exempt Administrative Assistant (Casual)Department:Corporate ServicesDuties:Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you will assist in establishing the smooth and efficient operation of the Corporate Services functions by exercising a high degree of independent judgment, demonstrating sound knowledge of the legal requirements of local government and recording Minutes of afternoon and evening Council Meetings. You will provide support in the preparation of documents and agreements related to labour relations and property management. You must demonstrate sound knowledge of the legal requirements of the Local Government Act and Community Charter.Education:

  • Post-secondary courses in Public/Business Administration or Local Government Administration
  • Will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an administrative support level
Skills:
  • Handle confidential material with discretion and integrity;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of the functions, methods, rules, procedures, bylaws, regulations and policies pertaining to the Corporate Services/Clerks Department;
  • The ability to deal effectively with elected officials, the public, and all levels of staff;
  • The ability to understand Roberts Rules of Order;
  • Have a thorough knowledge of office procedures and practices;
  • Prepare confidential reports and letters;
  • Be proficient in taking minutes rapidly and accurately, with the ability to occasionally take minutes at early morning and evening meetings;
  • Demonstrate superior knowledge of the use of the various components of Microsoft Office.
