There will also be required in-service for the successful candidate to complete.Deadline for Applications: September 13, 2022 – 12:00 pmElectronic Applications must be submitted through Make A Future www.makeafuture.ca and include a Cover Letter, Resume, Teaching Report, Transcripts & the names of 2 current supervisors who can comment on your teaching.Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

  • extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with special needs; assessment/testing theory and practice (Level B); strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services
  • demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT, PPVT, Key Math and TOWL
  • demonstrated experience in and knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of special needs and learning disabilities at the secondary level
  • knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of IEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student and district personnel
  • demonstrated ability in working as a Case Manager for students at the school, district, and inter-agency levels
  • demonstrated willingness to participate as an integral member of the School Based Team
  • demonstrated ability to liaise with classroom teachers to assure that the goals of the IEPs are effectively being implemented and evaluated
  • demonstrated experience in effective transition planning from middle to secondary and secondary to post-secondary
  • demonstrated leadership role in adapting/modifying curriculum for students with Special Needs
  • demonstrated success at working with and coordinating programs/schedules for a team of Educational Assistants
  • demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to a variety of classroom assignments at the secondary level
  • demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with learning and require additional support through student services
  • demonstrated ability and energy to use a variety of instructional strategies to teach secondary students
  • demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills
  • demonstrated organizational, communication and classroom management skills
  • demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues both verbally and in writing
  • demonstrated experience with a levels of intervention framework to support student learning
  • demonstrated commitment to use technology for teaching and to communicate consistently and effectively with parents and students
  • demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development
  • demonstrated commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning
