The assignment within this position in September may not be identical to the assignment in this posted position.2.   • academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
  • training and successful experience in teaching students with significant emotional and behaviour-related challenges
  • demonstrated competence and willingness in teaching adults in a Correction Centre
  • demonstrated understanding of the curricular competencies of the current Ministry of Education Courses that lead to a Dogwood or Adult Dogwood Graduation
  • demonstrated ethics and sensitivity to the nature and needs of the students in a Correction Centre
  • knowledge of, demonstrated commitment and practice to, the philosophy of teaching adults
  • demonstrated ability with a focus on supporting course completion, graduation, and trades program
  • demonstrated ability to devise a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate what they know
  • demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies in the classroom for adult students such as cooperative learning, guided discovery, and investigation
  • excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
  • capable of being flexible to meet the changing needs of students and staff at the Correction Centre
  • demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and the supervisor on site
  • demonstrated ability to work as an effective instructional and interdisciplinary team member
  • must be trained in or willing to be trained in Effective Behaviour Support and Threat Assessment
  • high energy and excellent interpersonal skills
  • must have a car and a valid BC driver’s license and be willing to commute to Ford Mountain Correctional Centre
  • demonstrated ability to maintain records on student performance and student learning plans
